The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sithole now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Vee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sithole lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vee at a distance.
Sithole fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vee manages to avoid it. Vee misses with a head kick.

Grimm tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gerrard was well out of range. Poor timing from Grimm. Gerrard throws a hook but Grimm avoids it easily. Grimm throws a low kick, looking for Gerrard's leg but Gerrard calmly moves out of range. Grimm throws a nice looking combination but Gerrard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gerrard was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Grimm with a body punch. A glancing blow. Gerrard looks for the body kick but Grimm saw that one coming. Grimm's coach down at BigMouth Cabrons was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Grimm's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Gerrard connects with the punch. Grimm gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Horrible takedown attempt by Floor Jan or perhaps it was just good defense by Louis, which made it look bad. Louis is looking to chop away at Floor Jan's legs. Floor Jan throws a right and a left that both miss. Floor Jan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Floor Jan misses with a telegraphed body shot

27 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Toni Manel! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cutwood bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Manel closes the distance and clinches up with Cutwood, looking for a takedown. Manel pushes Cutwood against the cage but Cutwood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Manel slips a jab from Cutwood. Cutwood looks to land a right hand but Manel moved out of range. Manel drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cutwood defends it well. Cutwood throws a leg kick but Manel sees it coming and moves out of range. And Manel tries to counter it with a takedown but Cutwood pushes his down on his head and steps out. Cutwood lands with a hook. Manel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Manel avoids a lazy jab quite easily. And Manel tries to counter it with a takedown but Cutwood pushes his down on his head and steps out. Cutwood waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Manel. Manel with the counter takedown but Cutwood avoids it easily. Cutwood lands a jab to the head.
Manel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cutwood manages to avoid it. Cutwood wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cutwood tries to clinch but fails miserably and Manel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cutwood's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Manel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cutwood utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cutwood tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cutwood has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cutwood looking to hit a scissor sweep but Manel is one step ahead there. Manel is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
It looks like Carlos Cutwood has been cut. Manel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Manel wants to control from the top but Cutwood keeps moving. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Manel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cutwood forces Manel back against the cage and clinches. Manel drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cutwood pulls his leg out and moves away.
Manel moves out of range as Cutwood throws a body kick.
And Manel tries to counter it with a takedown but Cutwood pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cutwood throws a hook to the side of Manel's head but Manel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Manel is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Cutwood loads up on a big right hand but Manel slips the punch. Manel tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Manel on the wrong end of a nice hook. Manel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cutwood. A good leg kick by Manel. Cutwood cracks Manel with a big right hand and Manel goes down! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cutwood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Manel looking for a sweep. Not yet Manel, not yet. Manel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Manel throws a big right hand that misses. Manel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cutwood swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cutwood is on top in guard.
Manel wants to sweep but no luck. Manel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Manel throwing strikes but missing. Manel postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cutwood working a defensive guard here.
Cutwood bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Manel's guard. Manel is controlling Cutwood's posture. Cutwood showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Cutwood trying to control the position from guard on top but Manel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cutwood preventing the sweep. Manel working a defensive guard but Cutwood manages to pass into side control anyway.
Manel is trying to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Cutwood dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carlos Cutwood's cut. That's time! Cutwood's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cutwood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cutwood wants it to stay on the feet. Manel ducks under a wild hook from Cutwood. Manel is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Cutwood is looking to clinch but Manel is avoiding it.
Carlos Cutwood is winning the standup battle so far. Cutwood connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Cutwood misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Manel with the counter takedown but Cutwood avoids it easily. Cutwood feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Manel's calf. Cutwood throws a hook to the side of Manel's head but Manel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cutwood looks to clinch and Manel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cutwood won't be happy with that. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cutwood is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manel with the ground and pound but Cutwood uses the opportunity to regain guard. Cutwood is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Manel can do to turn this around? Manel stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Cutwood has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Manel manages to get his head free but now Cutwood has transitioned to an armbar! Manel grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Cutwood! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Byrne displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Velasquez throws out the jab. Velasquez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Byrne is able to avoid easily. Byrne swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Byrne attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Velasquez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
David Byrne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Velasquez takes one on the button. A nice inside leg kick there by Velasquez. That's going to slow Byrne down. Byrne swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Velasquez throws a looping overhand right but Byrne ducks down to avoid it. Byrne tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Velasquez was well out of range. Poor timing from Byrne. Byrne takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Velasquez throws a jab but it's blocked by Byrne. Velasquez cracks Byrne with an open hand slap. Velasquez looks for the body kick but Byrne saw that one coming. Byrne pivots, looking for a leg kick but Velasquez is out of range and Byrne settles back down. Velasquez throws a lazy right hand but Byrne sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Byrne takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Velasquez circles away out of range and recomposes himself. A punch combination from Velasquez misses. Velasquez throws the kick towards the body but Byrne avoids it. Byrne tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Velasquez was well out of range. Poor timing from Byrne. Byrne backing away here, and Velasquez unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Byrne misses with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez lands a big head kick that sends Byrne tumbling to the mat! Velasquez takes a step backwards and waves Byrne back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like David Byrne has been cut. Velasquez cracks Byrne with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Velasquez has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Byrne to stand back up!
Byrne is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Byrne tries to land a leg kick but Velasquez saw it coming and moves away.
Oh Byrne is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Byrne fails in his attempt to clinch. Byrne fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Byrne seems to have got his legs back now. Byrne throws a solid leg kick but Velasquez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Byrne. A looping hook to the body misses from Byrne. Velasquez does a little dance to reset his feet. A little jabbing left from Velasquez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Velasquez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Velasquez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Byrne misses with an uppercut. Velasquez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Byrne. Velasquez lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Byrne throws an overhand right that lands on Velasquez's shoulder, as Velasquez tries to avoid the shot. Velasquez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Byrne is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Velasquez drops Byrne with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Byrne looks back up at him and smiles so Velasquez waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Velasquez missing with a left hand there. Byrne was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Velasquez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Byrne looks up at the clock. Bad move! Velasquez lands a right hand from hell, dropping Byrne. Velasquez pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juan Velasquez! Juan Velasquez is the new light heavyweight champion! A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Juan Velasquez made sure he mentioned BeastMode, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
