The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCaw takes the fight into the clinch.
Pat scores with a shoulder strike.
McCaw drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCaw goes for a takedown attempt but Pat pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pat tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McCaw manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

McCaw darts in and clinches Pat up against the cage.

McCaw gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Pat keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McCaw sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pat defending well though.
Pat avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McCaw.

McCaw seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pat does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McCaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slinga with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Carter digs a good hook to Slinga's body.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Slinga - that will leave a mark!
Slinga throws a nice outside leg kick.
Carter just misses with a punch to the body.
Slinga was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Carter misses with a wild body shot.
A head kick misses from Carter.
Slinga misses the shot to the body.
Carter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Slinga connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carter scrambles back to his feet.
Slinga has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Humboldt Park Elite Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Slinga is looking to clinch but Carter is avoiding it.
Carter pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Carter closes the distance looking to clinch
and Slinga makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Slinga avoids the body shot from Carter.
A little feinted left hand from Slinga on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Slinga misses with an uppercut. Carter saw that one coming.
The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Slinga lands with a kick to the ribs.
Carter needs to keep his hands up - Slinga had a free shot at his head there.

It looks like Llewelyn Carter has been cut.
Slinga tries a low kick but Carter avoids it.
Slinga lands a front kick.
Carter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Slinga lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Slinga delivers a nice body kick.
Carter looks winded!
Carter jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gun Slinga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Slinga, right into the meat.
Slinga throws an overhand right that lands on Carter's shoulder, as Carter tries to avoid the shot.
Slinga dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carter moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Carter throws a looping overhand right but Slinga ducks down to avoid it.
A lazy left from Slinga finds it's target.
Slinga loads up on a big right hand but Carter slips the punch.

and Carter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Slinga throws a body shot but no joy.
Carter thinks about the counter body kick.
Slinga throws a body kick that misses.
Slinga throws a jab when Carter was well out of range.
Carter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Carter with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Slinga to score with a decent uppercut.
Slinga is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Slinga changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Slinga throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Slinga moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

That has opened up Llewelyn Carter's cut even more.

Carter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Slinga, pushing him back against the cage.
Slinga lands a left hand that snaps the head of Carter backwards.
Carter tries to land a knee to the head but Slinga blocks with his arms.
Slinga lands an uppercut.
Carter lands a nice elbow.

It looks like Gun Slinga has been cut.
Slinga lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Carter backwards.
Carter tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Slinga tries to work over Carter's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Slinga lands a body punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
