The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lester lands with a nice body punch. Lester tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cerrone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cerrone thows a body kick. Lester tries to catch it but that hurt him. Cerrone delivers a nice body kick. Lester lands a big right hand that sends Cerrone crashing to the mat! Lester stays standing though and waves Cerrone back to his feet!
Cerrone is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Lester lands a big right hook! Cerrone looks hurt but is still standing! Lester lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Cerrone falls down and Lester dives in with a huge hammer fist! Cerrone's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Lester runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deverux connects with a nice looking jab.
Deverux lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Lawler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lawler's coach down at Always Clean Double Elite was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lawler's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Lawler moves into the clinch successfully.
Lawler is trying to pull guard but Deverux has him pressed against the cage. Deverux breaks the clinch.
Lawler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Deverux defends well and Lawler ends up having to push Deverux into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Lawler tries a head kick but it misses.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Deverux, as that shot connected.
Deverux wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Lawler looks winded! Deverux plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Lawler to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Lawler just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Katanov. No joy for Alvarez on that attempt. Katanov slips under a jab. Katanov throws a right and a left that Alvarez avoids nicely. Katanov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Katanov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Alvarez takes one to the side of the head.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alvarez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A swing and a miss from Alvarez. Alvarez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Alvarez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Alvarez throws out a leg kick but Katanov moves out of range and Alvarez only half commits. Alvarez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Katanov wants to work for an arm triangle but Alvarez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Katanov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alvarez is just riding it out for now. Katanov eventually gives up the hold.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Alvarez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Katanov defends well and Alvarez ends up having to push Katanov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alvarez slips a jab and a cross from Katanov.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Katanov digs a right hand into Alvarez's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Alvarez's gas tank. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Katanov wants to control but Alvarez postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. An elbow from Alvarez crashes against the mat.
Katanov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Alvarez has just dragged him back down to the mat. Alvarez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Katanov has escaped the position, nice work there.

Katanov tries to bench press Alvarez off him but Alvarez keeps the position. Alvarez with the ground and pound but Katanov regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Alvarez is looking for a kimura but Katanov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Alvarez to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Alvarez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Katanov has managed to free his arm - good work. Katanov trying to control here.

Papantoniou is pulling down on StGeorge's head. It's preventing any offense from StGeorge, at least for the moment. StGeorge is taking a break and basically stalling. Papantoniou escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. StGeorge gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. StGeorge is now in Papantoniou's guard. Papantoniou keeping moving, preventing StGeorge from controlling successfully. Papantoniou pulls StGeorge in close to prevent any damage. StGeorge rolls with it to try and escape but Papantoniou cranks on the arm and StGeorge is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karanov slaps away a takedown attempt from Gromov, before circling back to the center of the mat. Karanov changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Gromov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Karanov counters with a takedown into side control. Gromov is letting Karanov control him for a moment. Gromov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gromov is letting Karanov control him for a moment. Karanov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karanov controls the position.

Gromov is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Karanov is surviving well by controlling Gromov's body position as best he can. Gromov is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Karanov has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Karanov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gromov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Karanov working to try and regain half guard.

Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Gromov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Karanov manages to avoid the submission attempt. Karanov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gromov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. This has been an exciting period of action! Karanov slows the pace down in half guard. My spies in Mo's ($499) inform me that Karanov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Let's hope that Karanov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gromov wants to control but Karanov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Parata has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Parata uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Xuite. Xuite tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Parata throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Xuite stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Xuite on the wrong end of a nice low kick. Xuite throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Parata counters with a thumping low kick. Parata connects with a body shot. Parata cracks the inside of Xuite's front leg. Xuite throws a head kick that misses enabling Parata to counter with a crisp jab. Parata throws a head kick that misses. Parata buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Xuite looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. A nice inside leg kick there by Parata. That's going to slow Xuite down. Parata's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Parata duly obliges.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ruthless Ragnar! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! La Grande tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ragnar paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dale La Grande seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ragnar lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and La Grande has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from La Grande and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. La Grande is looking to clinch. Ragnar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Ragnar seems to be working for a kimura but La Grande defends the submission attempt. La Grande on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if La Grande tries to get out of the position. Ragnar tries to pass the half guard into mount. La Grande knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ragnar passes to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ragnar working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. La Grande turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Ragnar off and cradles La Grande's limp body as Ragnar celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ruthless Ragnar! Ruthless Ragnar is the new lightweight champion! During a confident post fight interview, Ruthless Ragnar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. The defeated Dale La Grande had this to say: 'Life's a BITCH!!!I mean a Beach...ohh and I will be back for the Title!'.

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blade Runner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Zanik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Runner might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Demanufacture by Fear Factory . Zanik is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Walk this way. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ted Zanik! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zanik uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Runner. Runner lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Runner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Zanik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Runner is looking to chop away at Zanik's legs. Zanik tries to counter with a clinch but Runner shakes him off and moves away. Zanik blocks a leg kick. Runner circles away from the clinch attempt.
Runner appears to be looking for a big counter. Runner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Runner seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Zanik takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Blade Runner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zanik swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Runner throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Zanik looks like he wants to counter punch here. Runner throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Runner throws a leg kick that misses. Zanik scores with a nice head shot. The fighters circle momentarily. Zanik darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Runner throws a low kick but it's checked well by Zanik. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zanik! But no joy. Zanik shoots in but no luck this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Runner works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Zanik shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Runner cracks Zanik with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Runner has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Zanik to stand back up! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A bone on bone clash there as Zanik blocks the leg kick.
Zanik looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Runner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Zanik looks winded! Runner throws a low kick but Zanik moves out of range easily. Zanik looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Zanik checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Runner uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Zanik. Runner misses with a low kick. Zanik wants to counter with a clinch but Runner pushes him away. Runner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zanik's head.
That has opened up Ted Zanik's cut even more. Runner closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Zanik! Runner dives in looking to finish! Zanik is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Blade Runner! Blade Runner retains his heavyweight title! Blade Runner decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. In defeat, Ted Zanik stepped up to the mic, saying 'Back to training, have to right the wrongs!'.
