Undercard bout

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Ruden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Ruden!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rice takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Rice shoots in for a takedown but Ruden shows good takedown defense.
Rice tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruden sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rice somewhat.

Rice shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rice showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rice is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ruden doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rice.

De Fran pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
De Fran attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
De Fran throws a head kick that misses.
De Fran bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
De Fran uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Grabowski has time to react.
Grabowski does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
De Fran throws a body punch but Grabowski moves out of range.
Grabowski tries to bum rush De Fran with a series of wild strikes but De Fran uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
