Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
37 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Romano Schoots! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Gully God! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! God takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Schoots throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck God on the side of the head. A telegraphed right hand from Schoots misses the target. God throws out a counter right but Schoots avoids it with no problem. Schoots fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and God has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Schoots jabs at God's body. God has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Romano Schoots seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schoots looks to score with a jab to the body but God is just out of range. God is looking for the big counter here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schoots slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Schoots lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

God chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Schoots can pounce on him.
Gully God has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A jab from God misses. Schoots is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that God can do to turn this around?

Schoots shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has God pinned against the cage. God gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from God! But no joy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Schoots tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Schoots feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gods jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

21 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaheli Sonni! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sonni lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A nice combination there by Jokinen.
It looks like Kaheli Sonni has been cut. Sonni throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A big right from Jokinen misses. Jokinen feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sonni sprawling to the canvas! Sonni rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Jokinen finish him?!
Sonni is rocked! Jokinen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jokinen lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Jokinen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sonni's waist but Sonni gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jokinen off to one side. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jokinen's half guard.

Jokinen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jokinen gets full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sonni throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jokinen trying to control the position.

Jokinen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Jokinen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sonni sprawls well initially but Jokinen persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Sonni manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sonni had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jokinen defends it easily. Jokinen wants to control from the top but Sonni keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jokinen passes Sonni's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jokinen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That sent Jokinen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jokinen is looking for a takedown here. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Sonni sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Jokinen wants to free his trapped foot but Sonni is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jokinen is looking to stall here but Sonni recovers full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jokinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sonni swivels though and keeps the full guard.
