1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Mcveigh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bread Panterson! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Panterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcveigh pinned against the cage. Mcveigh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Panterson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Panterson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mcveigh's calf. Panterson misses with a series of wild punches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcveigh works Panterson's body with a nice hook. Panterson goes for a double leg but Mcveigh avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mcveigh continues to drive forward.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Mcveigh.
Mcveigh lands with a straight right. Panterson didn't see that one coming. Mcveigh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mcveigh wants it to stay on the feet. Mcveigh seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Brian Mcveigh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bread Panterson. Mcveigh checks the leg kick nicely there.
Mcveigh lands a body shot.
Mcveigh throws a left and a right that both miss
and Panterson counters with a single leg into guard. Mcveigh didn't expect that. Panterson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Panterson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Panterson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Panterson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Panterson stops Mcveigh from standing up. Panterson stays in close to Mcveigh's body and controls the position. Panterson advances to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Panterson controlling the action here. Panterson trying to mount his opponent but Mcveigh defends it. Well, if Panterson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Panterson is looking for a kimura but Mcveigh is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Panterson to get the leverage. Panterson moves nicely into side control. Panterson wants to control but Mcveigh is keeping him busy. Mcveigh is trying to escape the position but Panterson is controlling the position. Panterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Panterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Panterson trying to control the position but Mcveigh is working away. Panterson takes a little break here. Mcveigh wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Panterson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mcveigh is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Panterson yanks on the arm and Mcveigh is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Panterson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Aubin Mercier.
It looked like Liberio was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. A head kick misses from Liberio. Sloppy strikes from Aubin Mercier. Those never looked like landing. Aubin Mercier dodges the punch combination from Liberio.
Aubin Mercier checks a leg kick. Aubin Mercier closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Liberio is trying to break free. Aubin Mercier gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Aubin Mercier content to stall in guard here. Aubin Mercier is pushing down on Liberio's leg trying to pass to half guard. Liberio is fighting to maintain full guard but Aubin Mercier has managed to sneak the leg through. Liberio knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aubin Mercier on the ground. Aubin Mercier frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Liberio is trying to escape the mount but Aubin Mercier keeps good control and instead manages to take Liberio's back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aubin Mercier is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Liberio with him. Liberio is trying to defend but Aubin Mercier has an arm under the chin now! Liberio grimaces and is forced to tap out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
Wallace tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnson throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Wallace counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that. Wallace trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Wallace postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wallace on the ground. Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wallace manages to get himself to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wallace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Wallace looking for a sweep. Not yet Wallace, not yet.

Johnson trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom. Wallace is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johnson is aware though and is defending well. Wallace has his hands on Johnson's head, controlling the position. Wallace has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Johnson doesn't defend quickly enough and Wallace has managed to lock this one up! Can Johnson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wallace on a fantastic submission victory.

Hernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Batar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Batar not landing any meaningful shots this time. Batar has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hernandez defend it? Batar steps over the head and cranks it - Hernandez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Batar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chernicin shoots for a double leg takedown but Downem sprawls well. He's pushed Chernicin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Downem feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Downem's corner is telling him to maintain position. Chernicin wants to stand up but Downem is controlling him. Downem sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chernicin's guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Downem escapes and gets back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chernicin throws a lazy head kick and Downem moves into the clinch. Downem manages to break the clinch.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Downem. Downem has hold of one of Chernicin's legs. Chernicin is fighting the takedown attempt but Downem gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Chernicin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Downem. Chernicin trying to control from the bottom.

Downem decides to return to a standing position. Downem circles away from the clinch attempt and Downem counters with a takedown into side control. Downem content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Downem thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Downem has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Chernicin! Chernicin is looking to get to half guard. Downem controlling from mount. Downem looking for a guillotine from mount but Chernicin is having none of it. Downem lands a couple of good shots and Chernicin has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chernicin just trying to survive but Downem is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Downem slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Well, with Downem on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Chernicin is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Downem is persistently looking for the submission but Chernicin is defending it well.

Materla wants to control the pace but Noel is squirming around nicely. Noel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Materla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Materla looking to control and managing it successfully. Noel tries to clinch but Materla is having none of it. Materla appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Noel tries to clinch up and Materla decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown.
