Undercard bout

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petter Anier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins comes into the arena with Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkins moves into range and clinches up with Anier.
Hawkins tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Hawkins goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Anier pulls Hawkins into guard.
Hawkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Anier's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Anier jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawkins walks away with a smile on his face. Anier gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Anier throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hawkins tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anier is in Hawkins's guard.
Anier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hawkins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lamont Hawkins.
I think Hawkins has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stephens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Oh but Coryatt is tightening it up a little... Stephens has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Stephens reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Stephens taps out! Nice BJJ there by Coryatt!

After the fight, Kevin Coryatt was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
