Zumo is nestled in close to Hardwood, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That kick from Bait tenderised Rose's leg. Rose is trying to keep his angry face on.

Bait is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Bait screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!

Cousteau shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cousteau's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Reeves has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Demaestri paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nukem throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Nukem scores with a leg kick.
Nukem throws a low kick but Weston avoids it.
Weston tries to counter by closing the distance.
Duke Nukem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nukem feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Weston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Weston is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Nukem will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nukem wants to control from the top but Weston keeps moving.
Weston pulls Nukem in close to his closed guard and prevents Nukem from doing any damage or advancing position.
Nukem wants to stand but Weston has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nukem drops back, looking for a kneebar! Weston looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Weston looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Weston!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nukem throws a nice looking combination but Weston bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Weston has Nukem up against the cage in a clinch.
Nukem tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nukem jumps guard but Weston stands there with Nukem around his waist. Nukem gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Nukem tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Weston smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duke Nukem. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Weston wants to get back to striking at distance but Nukem won't allow it.

Nukem scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Nukem fails to pull guard.
Nukem blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Nukem tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Weston just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nukem jumps into guard, dragging Weston to the mat.
Weston loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Nukem working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Weston doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Weston manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Weston gets to his feet - Nukem follows without any prompting.
Nukem tries a head kick but it misses.
Weston uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nukem.
Weston wants to counter the offense by Nukem and move into the clinch position.
Matt Weston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Weston drives through and clinches with Nukem against the cage.
Nukem lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Weston.
Weston throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Weston breaks the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Weston ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Weston moves in looking to clinch but Nukem pushes him off.
Nukem shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Weston as he jumps to the side.
Weston paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A nice leg kick lands there from Nukem.
Nukem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nukem connects with a looping right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duke Nukem dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Weston is looking to clinch but Nukem is avoiding it.
Weston tries to close the distance and clinch but Nukem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nukem sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Weston's defenses. It connects perfectly with Weston's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
