and Colt counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alexander thinking. Alexander fails to land the takedown. Colt is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Alexander misses with a few strikes there.
Despite the aggression on Colt's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Sloppy strikes from Alexander. Those never looked like landing. Alexander gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Colt counters into the clinch. Nicely done. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Alexander. That's going to take a lot out of him. Colt trying to land knees to the body.

Alexander got a little sloppy there for a moment and Colt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alexander has managed to get both his arms back between Colt's legs - danger averted. Alexander has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Takila defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Montez. Urho Takila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klay Montez. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Takila, as that shot connected.
Takila cracks a nice hook into Montez's ribs. Montez tries to move into range but Takila moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Takila circles away from the clinch attempt.

Montez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Takila throws a counter high kick but Montez was just alert enough to avoid it. Takila jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Montez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Montez pulls Takila in close to prevent any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Takila accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Montez lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Takila looking to hit a scissor sweep but Montez is one step ahead there. Montez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Andrew West dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
West throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Haapalainen on the side of the head. West throws a body kick that misses. Haapalainen misses with a takedown and West counters with a series of strikes. Haapalainen will be more careful next time no doubt. West lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
West might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Nice sprawl there from West as Haapalainen shoots in. West is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. West will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Haapalainen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
West misses with a looping left. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A head kick misses from West. Haapalainen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but West manages to circle out of the way. Andrew West seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Andrew West decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kirkland is looking to land body kicks. Midas lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Midas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kirkland throws out the jab. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Midas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kirkland has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kirkland and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kirkland cracks a nice hook into Midas's ribs. A head kick misses from Midas. Midas misses with a head kick.
A shot to the body from Midas misses and Kirkland counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Midas misses with a head kick.
Midas looks winded! Kirkland lands with a shot to the body. Kirkland works Midas's body with a nice hook. Kirkland lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sokolov can do anything to dispel that myth. Hall raining down hammerfists from mount. Hall scoring with strikes but Sokolov is staying in there. Sokolov prevents any damage by holding on tight. Sokolov tries to hold on but Hall pushes him away.
