Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lachie Hansen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones tries to clinch up but Hansen circles away and keeps his distance. Hansen misses with a head kick.
Jones tries to clinch up. Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Hansen. Hansen gets slowly back to his feet. Jones misses with a double jab.
Hansen throws a quick counter head kick but Jones was just out of range. Hansen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hansen off to one side. Jones darts in and clinches Hansen up against the cage. Jones successfully pulls guard.
Hansen wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones is trying to control the position but Hansen postures up. Hansen looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Hansen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hansen is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Hansen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jones takes the fight into the clinch. Hansen is trying to break the clinch but Jones is controlling him. Hansen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Jones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hansen to keep the fight standing. Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hansen walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Hansen dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Hansen's head and hops out. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hansen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hansen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hansen closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Hansen pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jones is pressed up against the cage. Hansen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hansen tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hansen to the ground. Hansen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones looks winded! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Hansen. Hansen misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jones is looking for the big counter here. Hansen scores with a jab to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hansen shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones checks a low kick from Hansen. Hansen throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Hansen rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hansen is looking to control Jones's arms but Jones gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hansen has his back to the cage. Silva Jr jabs Maut to the body, keeping him at a distance. Maut throws a head kick that misses and Silva Jr counters with a two punch combo. Maut throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gibson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coquerelle. Coquerelle controls from within his opponent's guard. Coquerelle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Coquerelle wants to control from the top but Gibson keeps moving. Coquerelle looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gibson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Coquerelle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gibson tries to avoid it but Coquerelle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gibson to the ground. Gibson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Coquerelle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gibson moves away. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Coquerelle.
Coquerelle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Coquerelle showed some decent athleticism there. Coquerelle is working for a kimura here but Gibson manages to reverse the position and he's now in Coquerelle's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gibson stops Coquerelle from standing up. Gibson is fighting to break Coquerelle's control of his arms but Coquerelle is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Coquerelle takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Coquerelle decides to stand up.
