Santoyo comes to the cage accompanied by Roots Bloody Roots. Papas Kanamun will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santoyo swats away the attempt to clinch by Kanamun. Santoyo avoids a punch combination nicely.

Santoyo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kanamun makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kanamun gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Santoyo counters by clinching up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santoyo is trying to trip Kanamun. He has hold of a leg but Kanamun is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Santoyo persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Santoyo is breathing heavily. Kanamun looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Santoyo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Kanamun manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Kanamun is looking to work some ground and pound but Santoyo has wrist control. Kanamun pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santoyo is keeping the position for now. Kanamun pushing down on Santoyo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Santoyo is looking to escape. Kanamun thows a huge punch but Santoyo dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kanamun missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Santoyo strikes from the bottom but Kanamun uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Kanamun tries for a kimura but Santoyo is defending well. Santoyo wants to control but Kanamun postures up. Santoyo defending against the ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Santoyo is not content to let Kanamun control the position. Kanamun thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. My spies in Sentinel Sparring inform me that Kanamun has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Santoyo is holding Kanamun down, trying to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santoyo trying to control but Kanamun flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Kanamun has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kanamun throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Santoyo covering up well under a barage of strikes. Kanamun wants to control but Santoyo is keeping busy. Santoyo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kanamun gets his way!

Santoyo trying to control the other hand but Kanamun gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Santoyo has tapped out! The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos Silva tries to clinch up but Sepulveda circles away and keeps his distance. Sepulveda lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Santos Silva circles away quickly and effectively. Sepulveda drops Santos Silva with a right and a left! Sepulveda comes rushing in but Santos Silva regains his composure and manages to keep Sepulveda in guard.

It looks like Gabriel Santos Silva has been cut. Santos Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sepulveda defends well. Sepulveda postures up.

Sepulveda stands up from Santos Silva's guard - Sepulveda perhaps looking for a knockout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A head kick misses from Santos Silva. Santos Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sepulveda connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. We've been told by Sepulveda's head coaches at A Hero's Journey: MMA Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sepulveda lands with a big right hook that stumbles Santos Silva - he's out on his feet here! Sepulveda follows up with another monster hook that separates Santos Silva from consciousness! Santos Silva falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Sepulveda stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Alejandro Sepulveda! Alejandro Sepulveda bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it. Gabriel Santos Silva spoke after the fight, saying 'If you think you have seen the last of me, think again, the gorilla will be back and madder than ever.'.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Du Vale was well out of range. Du Vale looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. This has been an exciting period of action! Du Vale takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Smith raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Du Vale throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith. Du Vale is breathing heavily. Du Vale lands with a good body shot. Smith pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Du Vale takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Du Vale moves out of range as Smith strikes. No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

And that's the end of the fight! Edward Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Biga kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ratamahatta. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.
