Sten closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sten takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sten connects with an inside leg kick.
Sten misses with an uppercut
enabling Hemi to counter with a crisp jab.
Hemi feints a jab promting Sten to slip. Hemi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sten slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Sten gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hemi tries to break the clinch but Sten is controlling the position.
Sten trying to land knees to the body.
Sten tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hemi looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Hemi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sten tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hemi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Brooks comes into the arena with 2nd Sucks - A Day To Remember blaring out of the sound system. Gottlieb Hiebknecht will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hiebknecht's waist but Hiebknecht gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brooks off to one side.
Hiebknecht drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Brooks defends it well.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brooks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Brooks swings around for an armbar but Hiebknecht sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brooks's guard.
Hiebknecht really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brooks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brooks pulls Hiebknecht in close to his closed guard and prevents Hiebknecht from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hiebknecht wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
