The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hodor defends well and Briggs ends up having to push Hodor into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hodor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Briggs gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

It looks like JT Briggs has been cut.

Hodor cracks Briggs with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Hodor has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Briggs to stand back up!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Briggs has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
