8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Galvao! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fokislav tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Galvao swivels and escapes. Fokislav throws a half hearted mid kick. Fokislav fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Galvao stuffs the takedown attempt from Fokislav. Fokislav gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ipu Fokislav. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fokislav is trying hard to land a takedown here. Galvao sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Fokislav. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Galvao. No luck for Galvao with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fokislav throws a head kick but Galvao moves out of range.

Galvao wants to pass the guard but Fokislav is defending well. Galvao thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Fokislav utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Fokislav avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
 Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Fokislav throws a leg kick that misses. Fokislav defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Galvao. Fokislav closes the distance but Galvao moves to the side
and Galvao counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fokislav is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Fokislav is working hard here to advance position.
 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Fokislav throws a sloppy head kick and Galvao moves out of range easily. Ipu Fokislav seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Galvao throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fokislav stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Fokislav with a lazy takedown attempt and Galvao counters with a stiff right hand. Fokislav throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Fokislav clinches but Galvao breaks the clinch and Galvao connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Fokislav misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Galvao.

so Galvao counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Galvao distracts Fokislav with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Fokislav keeping full guard, as Galvao tries to pass. Fokislav wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Galvao looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Fokislav is looking to escape. Galvao working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Fokislav is pressing down on Galvao's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Galvao landing some decent shots from guard. Fokislav looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Galvao is in close to Fokislav's body, working some short punches and elbows. Andre Galvao has got the better of the ground game so far. Galvao throwing strikes but missing.  The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Colette throws a sloppy head kick and Meyachev moves out of range easily. Colette throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Meyachev looks for a takedown but Colette sprawls well. Meyachev tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Meyachev fails with the takedown. A decent looking cross lands there for Colette. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Colette - that will leave a mark!

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Criss shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Derleth but Derleth pushes him off and we're back to square one. Criss throws a right hand that Derleth ducks under and follows up with a left that Derleth also avoids with ease.
Derleth has Criss up against the cage in a clinch.
Derleth connects with a nasty looking knee right to Criss's face.
Derleth misses with a short punch on the inside. Criss is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Derleth is defending well for now. Derleth misses with some punches.
Criss lands a nice elbow. A head punch blocked on the inside by Criss. Derleth avoids a wild elbow strike from Criss. Derleth lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Criss backwards. Criss drops his hands momentarily and Derleth takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Derleth tries to bum rush Criss with a series of wild strikes but Criss uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Derleth wants to clinch but Criss slips to the side
and Criss counters with a shoot takedown. Derleth fights it but they end up in guard. Derleth keeping moving, preventing Criss from controlling successfully.

 The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Criss postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Derleth is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Criss, into his guard.

Derleth really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Criss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Derleth wants to stand but Criss is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
August Derleth dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
