Kumlakar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Zalac looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kumlakar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kumlakar swings around for an armbar but Zalac sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kumlakar's guard.

Zalac must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bloonkers throws a sloppy head kick and Boson moves out of range easily.
Boson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Bloonkers.
Bloonkers feints a jab and as Boson dips his head, Bloonkers unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Boson right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Boson falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Bloonkers smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Barbie Bloonkers!
A very excited looking Barbie Bloonkers rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shogun gets tackled into the cage by Basaev. Basaev maintains the clinch.

Shogun pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Basaev trying to stall but Shogun improves his position.
Basaev's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
