The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zafon looks to land a combination. Capet sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Capet thows a left - swing and a miss!

Capet gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A frustrated look appears on Zafon's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Capet has Zafon pressed against the ropes, preventing Zafon from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Capet escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Capet misses with a jab, cross combination.

Capet clinches up with Zafon and pushes him back against the ropes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Capet is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Zafon is defending well for now.
Zafon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Capet has him pressed against the ropes.
Capet changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Zafon fights it off and pushes away nicely.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Capet is on top in guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Louis Capet will probably get the nod.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Capet is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Zafon is defending well though. Capet let's go of the attempt for now.
Carlos Ruiz Zafon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Zafon is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Capet gets his way!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Capet has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Zafon has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Capet lands with a hammerfist to the side of Zafon's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Capet has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Zafon's body.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Capet, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Andre Ribiero was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.

Rossi misses with an uppercut. Beton saw that one coming.
Beton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rossi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Beton goes for a double leg but Rossi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Rossi continues to drive forward.

Beton tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Ross Rossi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jos Beton.

Beton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Beton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rossi was covering up waiting for the punch and Beton finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rossi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beton on the ground.

Mitchell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Iki shoots in but no luck this time.
Iki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tyke Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Iki is defended easily by Mitchell.

Mitchell scores with a one two! Iki had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Mitchell drops Iki with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Iki looks back up at him and smiles so Mitchell waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Mitchell moves in close and cracks Iki with a massive right hand! Iki, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Mitchell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thong instigates a clinch.
Thong told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Monti drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Thong gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Thong landing knees to the head.
Monti drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Thong comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Thong lands a knee to the head.

Monti is rocked!
Thong crunches a lovely knee into Monti's ribcage.
Thong putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Monti in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Thong lands a damaging elbow.
Oh Monti is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Thong pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Monti! Thong unloads with more strikes and Monti sinks to his knees! This one is all over!

A jab-cross combination lands for Slater and sends Van Damme crashing to the mat! Slater follows him down to the mat - Van Damme regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Jean Paul Van Damme has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Slater prevents Van Damme from standing back up.
Slater keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Slater works his way into side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Slater takes a little break here. Van Damme wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Slater advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slater lands a big shot there that rocks Van Damme but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Slater lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Slater controlling from mount.
Van Damme seems to have recovered his senses.
Slater has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Van Damme's face.
Slater breaks from Van Damme's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Slater jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Van Damme manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Slater works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Van Damme looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slater grinds an elbow into Van Damme's temple.

Slater has an Americana. Van Damme didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Slater is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Slater hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Harry Slater!
A very excited looking Harry Slater rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
