0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jet Lee! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez swinging wildly here.
Lee looks to land a body kick but Fernandez moved away. Fernandez moves out of range as Lee throws a body kick.
Lee connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Fernandez connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Jet Lee has been cut. Fernandez gets the takedown into side control. Lee tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Fernandez presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Fernandez looking for a guillotine from mount but Lee is having none of it. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lee tries to hold on but Fernandez postures up. Lee sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fernandez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lee has managed to free his arm - good work. Lee is staying active underneath Fernandez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Lee tries to get to full guard but Fernandez has control of the leg. Lee is defending against the submission attempts here by Fernandez.

Lee keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Fernandez prevents Lee from improving his position. Lee is still trying to improve position. Fernandez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working. Lee is pressing down on Fernandez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Fernandez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lee manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fernandez has Lee in his guard. Fernandez is trying to control the position but Lee postures up. Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernandez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lee escapes and throws Fernandez's legs to the side, diving into side control! You can see the frustration on Fernandez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee takes a little break here. Fernandez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Lee working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Fernandez is looking to reverse the position. Lee advances to mount. Fernandez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lee content just to control the position here. Lee's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fernandez wants to control but Lee is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Javier Fernandez will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jet Lee's cut. That's time! Fernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A frustrated look appears on Fernandez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Lee prevents Fernandez from breaking the clinch. Fernandez drags the fight down to the ground.

Fernandez is trying to control the position but Lee postures up. Fernandez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Javier Fernandez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Fernandez looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Fernandez throws a lazy right hand but Lee sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Fernandez misses with a series of wild punches.
Lee takes a swing at Fernandez's ribcage but misses. Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fernandez manages to avoid it. Fernandez moves out of range of the body kick. Fernandez throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lee counters with a straight right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernandez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard. Lee keeping moving, preventing Fernandez from controlling successfully. Fernandez stands and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control. Fernandez trying to control the position but Lee is working away. Fernandez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Fernandez tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well. Lee holds on to Fernandez's head and controls the position momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee is looking to reverse the position. Lee regains half guard. Fernandez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lee can do to turn this around? Lee desperately trying to maintain half guard. Fernandez is looking to advance position but Lee won't allow it. Fernandez is working for a kimura here but Lee manages to reverse the position and he's now in Fernandez's guard.

Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fernandez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Fernandez's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Gunner enables Sheather to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gunner manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Gunner wants to control but Sheather passes easily into half guard.
Gunner is trying to maintain the position but Sheather is very close to passing his half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sheather throwing shots but Gunner is blocking nicely. Sheather is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gunner! Sheather throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Gunner wants to hold on but Sheather pushes him away. Sheather is working for a guillotine from mount but Gunner frees his head quite easily.
Sheather controlling from mount. Gunner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sheather on the ground. Sheather unloading with bombs! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sheather lands a shot to the body. Sheather just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sheather's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Sheather gets his hands free as Gunner looks to control. Sheather is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gunner has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Even with his hooks in, Sheather manages to miss with strikes from the back. Gunner trying to get back to his feet but Sheather is in full control for now. Sheather is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gunner is defending well though. Sheather let's go of the attempt for now. Gunner is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Cooper Sheather dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Gunner counters with a lovely straight right hand! Sheather throws a wild body kick that Gunner sees coming a mile off. Sheather tries to clinch but Gunner is having none of it. Gunner was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Sheather shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gunner but Gunner pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sheather decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Gunner has his hands clasped together around Sheather's back. He's all about the action. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunner wants to improve his position but Sheather is controlling well.

He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Gunner wants to control but Sheather is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sheather decides to stand up. Gunner fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Gunner scores with a jab to the jaw. Sheather takes one on the button.

Gunner punishes Sheather's body with a nice straight punch. Sheather tries to bum rush Gunner with a series of wild strikes but Gunner uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gunner lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Gunner stalks Sheather and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sheather's face. Sheather staggers backwards, shaken. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sheather tries to clinch up and Gunner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Gunner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sheather doesn't seem bothered though. Sheather has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheather shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sheather was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Sheather trying to control the position but Gunner is working away. Sheather content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Gunner sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Sheather trying to pass the guard but Gunner defending well. Gunner wants to get back to his feet. Gunner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sheather is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A head kick by Sheather misses and Sheather takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gunner lands a nice hook to Sheather's body. Gunner lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Sheather doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Sheather tries to free his leg and advance position but Gunner is retaining full guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheather tries for a takedown but Gunner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jack Gunner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cooper Sheather. Gunner stuns Sheather with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Gunner scores with a hook to the body. Sheather takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Sheather takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Sheather knows he should have avoided that one. Gunner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gunner cracks Sheather with an open hand slap. Sheather takes a jab right on the kisser.

Palya tries to clinch but Chan is having none of it. Chan let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Palya tries to close the distance and clinch but Chan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Palya misses with a takedown and Chan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Chan circles away from the clinch attempt and Chan counters with a big head kick but Palya shrugs it off. Palya drives through with a takedown into Chan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Palya pushing down on Chan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Palya is figuring out what he wants to do next. Chan wants to get back to full guard but Palya has passed into side control. Chan manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Chan is thwarting Palya's attempts to control the position. Chan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Palya keeps working. Palya flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Palya is positioning himself well to prevent Chan advancing to mount. Palya looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Palya is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Chan is tapping! Great win for Palya!

And that's the end of the fight! Staley Gumster comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gumster has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
