The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago with a poor takedown so Van Der Berg counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Santiago looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Van Der Berg with a nice head shot there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Van Der Berg slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Van Der Berg is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Santiago looks calm but he's in trouble here. Van Der Berg gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Santiago is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Van Der Berg lets go of the hold and Santiago can pop his arm back in it's socket.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stelling misses with a takedown attempt and Varner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stelling 's guard. Varner content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Varner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Stelling on his heels. He'll look to pass Stelling 's guard now, I'm sure. Varner showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Varner has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Varner controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Varner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Varner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stelling was covering up waiting for the punch and Varner finishes the takedown easily into guard. Varner is in close to Stelling 's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Varner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stelling misses the shot to the body. A jab from Stelling misses. Varner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Varner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Stelling tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Jack Stelling has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Varner postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stelling looks a forlorn figure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Varner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Varner raining down shots from the mount! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Stelling tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Jamie Varner showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Varner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Heinrick looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Heinrick is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Zuculini looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Zuculini's corner is telling him to maintain position. Vieira thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Vieira is trying to control the action in half guard but Ton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
