The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Govan getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Govan closes the distance but Gattis moves to the side
and Gattis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gattis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Govan.
Govan works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gattis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gattis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Govan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Govan throws an off balance right hand
and Gattis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Govan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gattis drives through and clinches with Govan against the cage.
Govan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Gattis.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Govan.
Gattis's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Gattis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Govan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gattis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Govan defends it easily.

Gattis has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Govan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

James Gattis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gattis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stephens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Coles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stephens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stephens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Stephens decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Coles cracks Stephens with a right hand to the side of the head.
Coles scores with a leg kick.
Stephens takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Coles thows a body kick. Stephens tries to catch it but that hurt him.

and Coles counters with an inside leg kick.

and Coles counters with a nice body shot.
Stephens looks winded!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Coles uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Stephens has time to react.

Coles feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Stephens sprawling to the canvas! Stephens rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Coles finish him?!

Stephens is rocked!

It looks like Fonz Stephens has been cut.
Coles plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Stephens to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Stephens just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

Dennis Coles was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tino Kallio.

A very excited looking Sambo Rambo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
