Sarmiento works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Julius Birch has been cut.
Sarmiento takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sarmiento moves forwards but Birch connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Sarmiento is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Birch.

Carly Sarmiento seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Birch engages and cracks Sarmiento with a massive lead left hook - Sarmiento tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Birch is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Julius Birch decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Luther finds Amdahl's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Amdahl flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Luther lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Amdahl will be OK.

Swanson feints and then cracks Martino's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Martino down.

and Swanson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

and Swanson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Martino's knee momentarily.

Powell is working Mizaki over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Barbossa throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

McCracken shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Barbossa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCracken drops back, looking for a kneebar! Barbossa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Barbossa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Barbossa!

McCracken is looking for a sweep.

McCracken is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Barbossa is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Barbossa stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Barbossa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but McCracken is on him like a limpet, forcing Barbossa back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
