0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Desert Joe! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hood throws a right and a left that both miss. Joe pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hood half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Hood keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Joe. Joe looks to land a combination. Hood sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Lucas Hood has been cut. Joe throws a jab when Hood was well out of range. A combination from Joe does no damage. Joe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Joe takes one on the chin but seems OK.
It looks like Desert Joe has been cut. Hood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Joe. Joe doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Joe moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hood is looking to clinch. Joe jabs Hood to the body, keeping him at a distance. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bloonkers has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sabel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Manning misses with a shot to the body and Sabel counters with a nice body shot. Sabel clobbers Manning with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Sabel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Manning. Sabel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Manning napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sabel tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Manning tries to bench press Sabel off him but Sabel keeps the position. Manning dodges the ground and pound from Sabel. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Khalidov bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Kropotkin unleashes a big counter combination but Payton bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Decent striking displayed by Kropotkin there. Kropotkin catches Payton with a nice straight right. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fifth Fist. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fist, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
