Motta lands a big uppercut and Avare crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Avare looks OK. Motta waves Avare back to his feet!

It looks like Gaston Avare has been cut.

Motta fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Avare, pushing him back against the cage.

Motta's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Avare fails with the takedown.
Motta looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Motta moves into range and clinches up with Avare.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Avare has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Motta regains guard immediately.
Motta wants to sweep but no luck.

Motta is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Avare is aware though and is defending well.

Avare stands up from Motta's guard - Avare perhaps looking for a knockout.
Motta throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Avare stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Motta clinches up with Avare and pushes him back against the cage.
Avare is looking to take this one to the mat.
Motta lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Avare backwards.

Motta breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Motta walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Avare drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Motta swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Avare's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

It looks like Dieter Schmidt has been cut.
Guerrero blocks a head kick by Schmidt.
Schmidt connects with a high kick.
A punch combination from Guerrero misses.
Schmidt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Guerrero throws out the jab.
Guerrero takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
As Schmidt tries to get set, Guerrero tries to push him back and clinch up but Schmidt manages to avoid the attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schmidt feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Guerrero's calf.
Dieter Schmidt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
