Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Laputa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jer Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laputa kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Suicidal Tendencies - You Can't Bring Me Down. The crowd seem to be enjoying Bear's choice of entrance music: Good Times. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jer Bear was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

27 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kirk Laputa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jer Bear! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and William Peck.

Laputa wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Bear slips a jab and a cross from Laputa.
Bear closes the distance and lands a one-two. Laputa is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Laputa lands with a nice body punch. Bear tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Good leg kick by Laputa there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bear takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. A big right from Laputa misses. Bear misses with a few strikes there.
Laputa blocks a low kick nicely. Bear throws a series of punches but Laputa avoids them all with ease. Bear misses with the combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bear takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Laputa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Bear misses with a low kick.
Laputa digs a good body shot into Bear's ribs. Laputa slips a straight right by Bear. Laputa throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bear counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Laputa thumps Bear with a low kick. Bear checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Bear looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Bear needs to keep his hands up - Laputa had a free shot at his head there. A punch combination from Bear misses. Bear swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Laputa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bear throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bear tries to move into range but Laputa moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bear ducks under a wild hook from Laputa. Bear rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laputa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Laputa seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Laputa lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

A big right from Laputa misses. Bear throws a counter combo. Bear throws a lazy right hand but Laputa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Laputa throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Laputa swings for the body but Bear moves out of range.
Decent striking displayed by Bear there. Sloppy strikes from Bear. Those never looked like landing. Laputa is looking to slow Bear down with leg kicks. Laputa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Laputa connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Bear lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Laputa looks to land a right hand but Bear moved out of range. Laputa throws a low kick but Bear avoids it. Bear follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. Bear throws a sloppy head kick and Laputa moves out of range easily.
Bear pushes Laputa up against the cage in a clinch. Bear tries to break the clinch but Laputa is controlling the position.
Bear escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bear avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Bear tries to clinch but Laputa is having none of it. A head kick misses from Bear. Bear lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Bear moves out of range of the leg kick from Laputa. Bear is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Laputa throws a head kick that misses. Bear throws a series of strikes that have Laputa backpedaling.
Laputa just misses with a punch to the body.
Bear tries to close the distance and clinch but Laputa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bear gets tackled into the cage by Laputa. Laputa maintains the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Laputa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bear is defending well for now.
Bear has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Laputa regains guard immediately. Bear missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bear missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laputa pulls Bear in close to prevent any damage. Bear makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Laputa has control of Bear's left arm, preventing Bear from doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jer Bear will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jer Bear's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Bear uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Laputa. Laputa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bear manages to avoid it. Bear defending well as Laputa loads up on a big left hand. Laputa ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Laputa throws a leg kick which misses Bear's front leg but catches the back leg as Bear tries to avoid it.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Laputa lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Bear wants a takedown.
Laputa tries to land knees in the clinch but Bear avoids the damage to the body. Laputa lands a damaging elbow.

Laputa creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bear's defenses. Laputa misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bear.
Laputa blocks an elbow strike. Laputa looks to throw an elbow but misses. Bear is trying to drag Laputa to the mat but Laputa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Bear drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Laputa gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kirk Laputa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jer Bear. Laputa missing with knees to the body.
Bear pulls Laputa into guard.
Laputa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Bear struggling a bit here. Bear sneaks back into half guard. Laputa prevents Bear from improving his position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Bear looking for a kimura from the bottom but Laputa passes into side control! Laputa takes a little break here. Bear wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bear tries to bench press Laputa off him but Laputa keeps the position. Bear seems a little lost for a moment, as Laputa dominates the positioning. Bear tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Laputa remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Bear is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Laputa lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Laputa is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Laputa is pressed up against the cage. Bear has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laputa down to the mat. Laputa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. Bishop controlling the position well. Dama looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bishop trying to hold on to Dama's head to control him but Dama postures up.
Bishop landing small, sideways elbows. Dama wants to take a breather but Bishop is having none of it.

Dama is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bishop to escape.

Kenmoghn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Metsast tries to buck Kenmoghn off but Kenmoghn is having none of it. Metsast manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kenmoghn wants to get back to his feet.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Metsast working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kenmoghn trying to hold on to Metsast's head to control him but Metsast postures up.

We've been hearing good reports from Kenmoghn's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Kenmoghn connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Kenmoghn displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Metsast throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kenmoghn moves into range and connects with a jab. Metsast has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kenmoghn avoids a punch combination nicely.

Nexus misses with a shot to the body and Valente counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Nexus with a poor takedown and Valente counters with a nice uppercut. A jab from Nexus finds it's way through Valente's defenses. Nexus misses with a body punch

I was talking to Nexus's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Valente prevents a body shot from Nexus. Nexus lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. A short right from Valente on the inside. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nexus scores with a shot to the side of Valente's head. Nexus takes a shot to the head. Valente lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nexus circles away quickly and effectively. Nexus is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. That kick from Valente tenderised Nexus's leg. Nexus is trying to keep his angry face on. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valente shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nexus pinned against the cage. Nexus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nexus takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Nexus has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Nexus and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Nexus moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Valente just misses with a punch to the body.

And Asashoryu responds with a good body kick, but Griever manages to step out the way in time. Asashoryu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Griever lands a stunning uppercut that sends Asashoryu to the mat!

enabling Scorpion to counter with a crisp jab. Scorpion connects with a body shot. Linna uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scorpion.
