1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alberto Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Daniels looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A nice side step and Rodriguez releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Rodriguez drives through and clinches with Daniels against the ropes.
Rodriguez wants to take the fight to the mat but Daniels manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Rodriguez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Daniels misses the jab. Rodriguez tries to land a leg kick but Daniels saw it coming and moves away.
Rodriguez is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt and Rodriguez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodriguez just misses with a punch to the body.
Daniels cracks a nice hook into Rodriguez's ribs. Rodriguez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Daniels fails in his attempt to clinch. Daniels moves into the clinch. Daniels could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Daniels is rocked! Some bone on bone action there as Daniels checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Oh Daniels is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Daniels is looking to clinch. Rodriguez with the counter takedown but Daniels avoids it easily. Daniels definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Daniels seems to have got his legs back now. A left and a right from Rodriguez both land. Nice combination. Daniels swings for the body but Rodriguez moves out of range.

That's going to take a lot out of Alberto Rodriguez. Rodriguez is looking to score with low kicks. An attempted straight right counter from Daniels misses the target. Rodriguez tries to bum rush Daniels with a series of wild strikes but Daniels uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Daniels looks to land a left hand but Rodriguez moved out of range nicely. Rodriguez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Daniels wants to clinch and Rodriguez counters with a right hand to the body. Rodriguez checks a low kick from Daniels. Rodriguez replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Daniels blocks it well. Rodriguez throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Daniels connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Rodriguez keeps the fight on the outside. Rodriguez lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Rodriguez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Rodriguez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Rodriguez lands a nice hook to Daniels's body. Daniels takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Daniels tries to clinch there but Rodriguez circles away.
Rodriguez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Daniels walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Daniels wants to clinch. Rodriguez appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A shot to the liver by Rodriguez. Beautiful body shot. Rodriguez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rodriguez throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Daniels tries to clinch up.

Daniels appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Rodriguez pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Daniels back to the ropes. Rodriguez follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez dives in for a single leg takedown but Daniels sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. James Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alberto Rodriguez. Daniels throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Rodriguez jabs at Daniels's body. The fight stays on the outside here - Rodriguez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rodriguez swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Alberto Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rodriguez keeps the fight on the outside. Daniels tries to clinch up but Rodriguez circles away and keeps his distance. Daniels will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rodriguez works over Daniels's head and body with a nice combination. Daniels tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rodriguez was well out of range. Poor timing from Daniels. The fighters circle momentarily. Rodriguez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Rodriguez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Daniels throws a series of punches but Rodriguez avoids them all with ease. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rodriguez throws the kick towards the body but Daniels avoids it. Daniels appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Daniels escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Daniels fires out a quick counter leg kick but Rodriguez just manages to avoid it. Daniels scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Daniels punishes Rodriguez's body with a nice straight punch. Daniels throws a body kick that misses. Rodriguez feints the counter takedown. Nice cross by Daniels. Alberto Rodriguez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Rodriguez avoids the body shot from Daniels.

It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tevez manages to end up in side control. Ankjell is looking for a sweep. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tevez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ankjell will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ankjell takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Suryawan wants to counter the offense by James and move into the clinch position. James looking for a takedown here - he's got it. James looking to pass the guard. James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Suryawan is proving hard to escape from. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suryawan keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James sitting in guard, not really doing much. Suryawan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cook is figuring out what he wants to do next. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
