Padero has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Uggla to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Padero is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Uggla pulls down on the head and he's put Padero to sleep! This one is all over!

Rage Machine had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Rage Machine has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nym displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Machine.
Nym stuffs the takedown.
Nym tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Nym closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Machine to the mat! Machine manages to get full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Machine manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nym has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Nym is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Machine gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Machine pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Machine shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nym as he avoids it easily.

We've been hearing good reports from Machine's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ma A Nonu is the new middleweight champion!
Ma A Nonu decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
