Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Power Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harold Freeze! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freeze throws a head kick but Ortiz moves out of range.
Freeze drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Freeze is standing up over Ortiz. Ortiz looks to escape but Freeze dives into side control.
Freeze decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ortiz to his feet. Freeze gets a clinch. Ortiz goes for a takedown attempt but Freeze pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
No joy there for Freeze, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Freeze pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ortiz back to the cage. Freeze follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Freeze tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ortiz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Freeze somewhat. Nice takedown defense from Ortiz. No joy for Freeze on that attempt. Ortiz half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Freeze, pushing him back against the cage. Freeze has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ortiz uses from the top position. Freeze working a defensive guard here.
Ortiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Freeze is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Ortiz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ortiz throws a big right hand that misses. Freeze tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ortiz gets to his feet - Freeze follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Freeze darts in looking for a takedown but Ortiz gets double underhooks and turns Freeze into the cage. Power Ortiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Freeze. Ortiz tries for a takedown but Freeze sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Freeze is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ortiz fails to land the takedown. Freeze throws a counter combo. The fight stays on the outside here - Ortiz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. An inside leg kick from Ortiz misses. Freeze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ortiz counters by moving into the clinch. Ortiz jumps guard.
Freeze trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ortiz wants to improve his position but instead Freeze has moved into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Ortiz tries to kick Freeze off but Freeze keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Ortiz keeping hold of Freeze's head, controlling as best he can. Freeze trying to control the action but Ortiz is working from the bottom. Ortiz keeping control of the position. Ortiz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ortiz misses with some strikes from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Freeze looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Freeze scoring with strikes to the body and head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ortiz tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Freeze wants to stand but Ortiz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Harold Freeze dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Freeze looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ortiz is trying to stand up here but Freeze is controlling him well. Ortiz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Freeze seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ortiz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ortiz wants to control but Freeze is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ortiz punching from the bottom.
Freeze is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Freeze thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ortiz's head.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz with a lazy takedown attempt and Freeze counters by moving into the clinch. Freeze has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ortiz after a bit of a struggle. Freeze lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Ortiz manages to break the clinch.
Ortiz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Freeze's guard. Freeze has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ortiz is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Ortiz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Ortiz looking to throw knees to the head but Freeze is blocking nicely.
Freeze has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ortiz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Freeze is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Power Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Freeze taking a breather.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz tries to pull guard but Freeze holds him up against the cage and eventually Ortiz drops back down to his feet.
Freeze displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ortiz up against the cage. Freeze drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ortiz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Freeze keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Freeze will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Ortiz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ortiz stands and steps away. Freeze gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Freeze closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Freeze tries to pull guard but Ortiz holds him up against the cage and eventually Freeze drops back down to his feet.
Freeze breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ortiz on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Harold Freeze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Ortiz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Freeze shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ortiz but Ortiz pushes him off and we're back to square one. Freeze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ortiz counters with a nice body shot. Freeze thuds his right hand into Ortiz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Freeze fails with a takedown attempt. Power Ortiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Freeze. Ortiz shoots in looking for a takedown but Freeze manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ortiz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Freeze trying to hold on to Ortiz's head to control him but Ortiz postures up.
Ortiz prevents Freeze from improving his position. Freeze flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Freeze is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ortiz pulls his head out easily. Freeze is staying active underneath Ortiz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Freeze trying to control but Ortiz postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz lands with a punch from half guard. Ortiz blocks the strikes from Freeze.
Ortiz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Freeze is looking for a sweep. Ortiz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Freeze is looking to escape.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Freeze lands with a kick to the temple. Ortiz shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Ortiz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Freeze. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Freeze as he jumps to the side. Freeze throws a head kick that half lands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz fails with the takedown and Freeze counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Freeze trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Freeze being controlled here momentarily. Ortiz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Power Ortiz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Harold Freeze is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Freeze trying to control but Ortiz is working from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Power Ortiz. Well Freeze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Toifer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lawson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lawson stays in close to Toifer's body and controls the position. Lawson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Toifer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lawson is aware though and is defending well. Toifer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lawson defends it easily. Toifer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lawson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Lawson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lawson advances position into side control! Toifer is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Toifer is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Lawson is tapping! Great win for Toifer!
