The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Perri momentarily.

It looks like Matt Perri has been cut.

West feints the counter takedown.
Perri throws a lazy right hand but West sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from West lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Perri has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Perri and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Deurell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Shiit is looking for a sweep.
Shiit felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shiit is trying to control Deurell's posture but Deurell avoids it.

Deurell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shiit, who protects the arm well.
