These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wowie looks to land a left hand but Volkov moved out of range nicely.
Volkov shoots in looking for a takedown. Wowie tries to sprawl out of it but Volkov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wowie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Volkov dives in for a single leg takedown but Wowie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Volkov tries to bum rush Wowie with a series of wild strikes but Wowie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wowie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wowie lands a big uppercut and Volkov crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Volkov looks OK. Wowie waves Volkov back to his feet!
Volkov is rocked!
Wowie sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Volkov's defenses. It connects perfectly with Volkov's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

A determined Maui Wowie didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
