And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Costa to the mat! Costa manages to get full guard.
Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Penn slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Costa trying to keep a closed guard but Penn is proving a slippery customer.
Penn stays in close to Costa's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Penn shoots for a double leg takedown but Costa sprawls well. He's pushed Penn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Costa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn drops back looking for a leg! Costa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Costa manages to kick Penn off! Penn jumps back into Costa's guard.

Penn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Penn postures up.
Penn is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Penn stands up from Costa's guard - Penn perhaps looking for a knockout.

Costa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penn looks for a takedown but Costa sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Costa lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Penn backs up against the cage.

Penn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Costa sprawls well initially but Penn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Costa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Penn is on him like a limpet, forcing Costa back against the cage.

Penn successfully pulls guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Costa is posturing up here but Penn has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Costa tries to roll out but it's too tight and Costa has to tap! Slick submission there by Penn!
