These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gennaro Esposito! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Topper Green and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pickering moves out of range as Esposito strikes. Pickering was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Pickering goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Gennaro Esposito has been cut. Esposito bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Pickering slips a jab from Esposito. Pickering was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Esposito fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pickering misses the jab. Pickering lands an overhand right. Esposito misses with a two punch combination.
A counter left hand to the body from Pickering misses its target. Pickering steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Esposito. Nice uppercut lands for Pickering. That snapped Esposito's head back.

and Pickering counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Esposito missing with a left hand there. Pickering was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Esposito looks to land a combination but Pickering avoids it well. It looked like Pickering wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Pickering misses with a hook
and Pickering takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Ronnie Pickering has been cut. Esposito shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Esposito misses with an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esposito misses with a looping left. Pickering dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Pickering jabs at Esposito's body. Pickering slips under a jab. Esposito swings widly with a right hand
and Pickering counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Esposito looks winded! Esposito throws a poor cross that misses
and Pickering counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pickering. Pickering pushes Esposito back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Esposito is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Pickering lands with a short punch from the clinch.
That has opened up Gennaro Esposito's cut even more. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pickering creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pickering lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Esposito backwards. A short left from Pickering. Pickering pressing his opponent against the cage. Esposito's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pickering lands a right hand. Pickering lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pickering slows down the pace here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A short right from Pickering. Pickering is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A short right hand to the side of the head by Pickering. Pickering scores with an uppercut up the middle. Pickering lands a hook that snaps the head of Esposito backwards. Esposito wants to get back to striking at distance but Pickering won't allow it.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Pickering. Pickering lands with a right to the head.
The cut above Gennaro Esposito's eye is starting to cause him problems now. A short left from Pickering.
Esposito is rocked! Pickering creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Esposito with a big uppercut! Esposito tries to clinch up but Pickering pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Esposito to the mat! Esposito covers up and Pickering unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Veitayaki goes for a double leg but Anderson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Anderson continues to drive forward. Anderson scores with a jab to the head.
Veitayaki is looking to clinch. Veitayaki doesn't succeed with the takedown letting Anderson counter with a right hand. Donk. Anderson catches Veitayaki right on the button with a cross. Anderson with a body punch. A glancing blow. Good standup being displayed there by Anderson as he connects with a hook. Ilivasi Veitayaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson lands a body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Anderson closes the distance and lands a one-two. Veitayaki tries for a takedown but Anderson circles away easily and Anderson counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilivasi Veitayaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice uppercut lands for Anderson. That snapped Veitayaki's head back.
Veitayaki gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Anderson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Veitayaki takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Anderson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Veitayaki to score an easy takedown into full guard. Veitayaki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That has opened up Alex Anderson's cut even more. Veitayaki slips nicely into half guard. Veitayaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Veitayaki throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Veitayaki wants to control but Anderson is keeping him busy. Veitayaki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Veitayaki is looking for a kimura but Anderson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Veitayaki to get the leverage. Anderson looks winded! Veitayaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working. Veitayaki lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Veitayaki seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Anderson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
