The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakamoto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mason attempts a counter takedown but Sakamoto avoids it well and moves away.
Sakamoto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mason swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sakamoto looks for a takedown but Mason sprawls well.

Sakamoto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mason tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sakamoto is in Mason's guard.

Mason escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sakamoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mason has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sakamoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mason has left one of his arms exposed and Sakamoto doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Mason screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Pagonyan throws a lazy right hand but Trevor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pagonyan tries to clinch but Trevor is having none of it.
Gor Pagonyan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pagonyan shoots for a double leg takedown but Trevor sprawls well. He's pushed Pagonyan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Renaud Trevor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gor Pagonyan.

Trevor tightens his grip and picks Pagonyan up, before dumping him to the ground. Pagonyan manages to land in guard.
Pagonyan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Trevor dives into side control.


Trevor has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Pagonyan gets caught flat footed, as Trevor shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kovganov goes for a double leg but Smiff avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smiff continues to drive forward.
Smiff tries to counter with a takedown but Kovganov is quick to defend against it.
Smiff throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smiff fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kovganov gets caught napping as Smiff dives in and scores a takedown. Kovganov manages to retain guard.
Smiff won't allow Kovganov to get back to his feet.
Smiff is pushing down on Kovganov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kovganov is fighting to maintain full guard but Smiff has managed to sneak the leg through.
Smiff is taking a breather. Kovganov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
