The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks throws a quick inside leg kick. Brooks rushes Troublefield and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Brooks misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Troublefield.
Brooks pressing his opponent against the cage. Troublefield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A big right from Brooks misses. Brooks just misses with a punch to the body.
Brooks takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Brooks looks to score with a jab to the body but Troublefield is just out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Troublefield connects with a right hand. Brooks shakes it off. Troublefield thumps Brooks with a low kick. Troublefield lands a nice hook to Brooks's body. Brooks takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Nice sprawl there from Troublefield as Brooks shoots in. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brooks.

Still in the clinch, Brooks scores with a nice short uppercut. Troublefield is pressed up against the cage. Brooks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Troublefield down to the mat. Troublefield avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Troublefield lands a right hook to the body.

Troublefield throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brooks's waist but Brooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Troublefield off to one side. Brooks misses with a body shot.
Brooks throws a jab but it's blocked by Troublefield. A shot to the body from Brooks misses and Troublefield counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Brooks! Brooks is looking for a sweep.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Troublefield working the head with strikes. Brooks takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Brooks is trying to improve his position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth. Troublefield lands an elbow. You can see the frustration on Brooks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Troublefield has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Brooks is looking to regain half guard here but Troublefield keeps moving and retains side control. Brooks tries a low kick but Troublefield avoids it. Troublefield feinted with a counter takedown. Brooks pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Brooks doesn't succeed with the takedown and Troublefield counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Brooks uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Troublefield. Brooks with the counter takedown but Troublefield avoids it easily. Troublefield lands a big head kick that sends Brooks tumbling to the mat! Troublefield takes a step backwards and waves Brooks back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Cora Brooks has been cut. Brooks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Troublefield moves away. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brooks lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Troublefield has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Troublefield and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Brooks misses with an uppercut. Some bone on bone action there as Brooks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Brooks with the counter takedown but Troublefield avoids it easily. Brooks is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Troublefield rather than just go for the knockout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Troublefield shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brooks as he avoids it easily. Brooks misses with a hook. Cora Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Troublefield is looking to score with low kicks. Brooks throws a leg kick and Troublefield counters with a huge left! Brooks is in big trouble! He's backing up but Troublefield isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Brooks from any more damage. A dominating finish by Troublefield!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Face throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Face finishes the takedown easily into guard. Face postures up.
Rua keeping moving, preventing Face from controlling successfully. Face postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Face trying to control but Rua is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Face not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Rua lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Face chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rua can pounce on him.
Rua stuffs the takedown. Face checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Face feinted with a counter takedown. Rua fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Face has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Rua keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Face shoots in for a takedown but Rua shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rua throws a solid leg kick but Face takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Rua. Face attempts a counter takedown but Rua avoids it well and moves away. Rua feints and then cracks Face's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Face down. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Face moves out of range of the leg kick from Rua. Shit Face is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Face looking to score a takedown here. Rua is defending well but Face drives through and ends up in Rua's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Face throws a big right hand that misses. Face looking to sit in guard and control but Rua gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sparky Anderson decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
