Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Jr! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jr slips a jab from Gallant. A jab from Gallant does it's job there. Gallant gets caught flat footed, as Jr shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Gallant working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jr. Jr is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Gallant is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jr makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Gallant knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jr on the ground. Jr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gallant's head. Gallant is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jr content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Jr lands a couple of digs. Jr is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Gallant trying to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jr distracts Gallant with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jr postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Jr lands a couple of elbows. Jr connects with a couple of short punches. Jr scoring with punches to the head and body. Jr postures up and lands a big shot to Gallant's brow. Jr has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jr chips away with some ground and pound. We've been hearing good reports from Gallant's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Andy Jr dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gallant lands with a hook. Jr tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Gallant swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gallant throws a shot from downtown. Jr moves away and avoids it. Gallant connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A looping hook to the body misses from Jr. Gallant does a little dance to reset his feet. Gallant is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jr. Jr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gallant does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gallant has hold of Jr's hands but Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jr lands with a punch from half guard. Andy Jr has got the better of the ground game so far. Jr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Gallant tries to get to full guard but Jr has control of the leg. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gallant is working hard here to advance position.

Gallant is rocked! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jr connects with a nice short shot to Gallant's temple. Oh Gallant is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gallant has hold of Jr's hands but Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jr works his foot free and advances to mount. Jr is landing with some decent strikes but Gallant is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jr lands with some strikes. Oooooh, big shot lands for Jr! Gallant is hurt baaadly! Jr is firing away with more strikes - Gallant is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Randy fails with a takedown attempt from distance. We've been informed that Dias has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Randy shoots in but Dias avoids the takedown attempt easily. Dias jabs Randy right on the nose. Randy blinks but takes it well. The fighters circling - Dias throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A kick lands to the mid section there for Dias. Randy is looking to clinch but Dias is avoiding it.
Randy doesn't manage to clinch there - Dias circles away.
Dias tries to counter with a clinch but Randy shakes him off and moves away. Randy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tessin Randy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dias attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dias thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Randy if he has to take too many more of those.

Randy avoids it this time. Dias misses with a low kick. Randy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dias as he jumps to the side. Dias lands a nice leg kick that just misses Randy's sensitive parts. Dias looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Randy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dias defends well and Randy ends up having to push Dias into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Randy fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Randy fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Randy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dias tries to avoid it but Randy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dias to the ground. Dias escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Randy is breathing heavily. Dias stuffs the takedown. Randy checks the leg kick. Dias throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Randy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Randy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dias sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Randy somewhat. Dias lands a big head kick that sends Randy tumbling to the mat! Dias takes a step backwards and waves Randy back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Oh Randy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Dias throws a right and a left that Randy avoids nicely. Randy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dias defends it nicely. Horrible takedown attempt by Randy or perhaps it was just good defense by Dias, which made it look bad. Randy seems to have got his legs back now. Helder Dias is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dias pushing out the jab but it's not landing. No luck for Randy with that takedown attempt. This has been an exciting period of action! Randy misses with a few strikes there.
Randy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dias tries to avoid it but Randy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dias to the ground. Dias escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Dias is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Randy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dias sprawls well. Dias wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Randy gets slowly back to his feet. Dias throws the kick towards the body but Randy avoids it. Randy drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dias sprawls and moves away. Randy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Dias swings for the body but Randy moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight! Helder Dias comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Dias has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
