Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Better Dead! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 25 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sergei Simenkov! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simenkov pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Dead has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) in the buildup to the fight. Dead throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Simenkov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Dead is looking to chop away at Simenkov's legs. Simenkov shoots in but no luck this time. Simenkov shoots in looking for a takedown but Dead manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Simenkov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dead connects with a right hand. Simenkov shakes it off. Simenkov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Better Dead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Simenkov. Dead throws a nice inside leg kick. Simenkov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dead has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Simenkov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dead comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Simenkov breaks from the clinch.
Dead lands a big head kick that sends Simenkov tumbling to the mat! Dead takes a step backwards and waves Simenkov back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Sergei Simenkov has been cut. Simenkov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Simenkov is still on wobbly legs! Can Dead finish him? Simenkov walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Simenkov limp body while Dead jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Better Dead! After the big win, Better Dead made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Spartan Nutrition 160Q with Proof and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.

26 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Jensen! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jensen has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ray. A big right from Ray misses. Jensen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ray defends it well. Ray is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jensen. A looping hook to the body misses from Ray. Jensen does a little dance to reset his feet. Ray looks to land a left hand but Jensen moved out of range nicely. Jensen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Ray throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Jensen feints the counter takedown. Jensen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ray connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jensen scrambles back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ray throws a jab when Jensen was well out of range. Ray misses with a straight left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ray fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jensen manages to avoid it. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jensen checks a leg kick. Ray fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jensen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Jensen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ray. Jensen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Jensen staying out of range there. Jensen feints the counter takedown. Ray throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ray misses with a body shot.

Jensen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ricky Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jensen ducks under a wild hook from Ray. Ray tried to score with a low kick but Jensen checks it. Jensen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ray defends it well. Ray is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Jensen's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Ray dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jensen dodges the punch combination from Ray.

Ray is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jensen can do to turn this around? Jensen tries to stand but Ray is controlling from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ray lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Jensen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ray trying to control the position from guard on top but Jensen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ray is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ray slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jensen keeping full guard, as Ray tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jensen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ray stops Jensen from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A looping hook to the body misses from Ray. Jensen does a little dance to reset his feet. Jensen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Ricky Ray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! And Jensen tries to counter it with a takedown but Ray pushes his down on his head and steps out. Jensen moves out of range of the leg kick from Ray. Jensen feints the counter takedown. Ray misses with a looping left. Ray works Jensen's body with a nice hook.

And that's the end of the fight! Ricky Ray showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ray, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prime tries to keep at a distance but Grant has taken the fight into the clinch. Prime lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Grant throws a punch but it's blocked by Prime. Prime fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Prime closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Prime fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Prime just leaning against Grant, taking a breather. Grant tries to work over Prime's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Grant working some nice short punches in the clinch. Prime lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Come on Prime - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Prime digs a right hand underneath Grant's ribcage. Grant let out a lung full of air as it connected. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Prime breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Prime sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grant wants to slow Prime down by chopping away at his legs. Prime takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Grant closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Grant looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Prime walks away with a smile on his face. Grant gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Optimus Prime has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terrell Grant. Prime has taken the fight to the clinch.

Grant told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Grant had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Prime defends it easily. Grant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Prime postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Prime postures up in Grant's guard and throws a big left but Grant blocks it. Prime wants to pass the guard but Grant is keeping the position. Grant throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Grant pushes a forearm under Prime's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Prime is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Terrell Grant! Terrell Grant is the new heavyweight champion! An out of breath Terrell Grant thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
