The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Cartwright or perhaps it was just good defense by Hjelmslev, which made it look bad. Cartwright has been working on his balance at Irish Collar & Elbow Academy, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hjelmslev. Cartwright looks for a takedown but Hjelmslev sprawls well. Cartwright tries to move into range but Hjelmslev moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Cian Cartwright has been cut. Cartwright shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cartwright throwing shots but Hjelmslev is blocking nicely. Cartwright thows a huge punch but Hjelmslev dodges it nicely.

Hjelmslev slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cartwright's guard.

Cartwright manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cartwright forces Lynn back against the cage and clinches. Cartwright's coach down at Irish Collar & Elbow Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Cartwright's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lynn. Lynn makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Cartwright has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lynn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Cartwright drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lynn gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moreira lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gracie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Moreira sees it coming and avoids it easily. Moreira scores with a push kick. Moreira throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily. Daniel Vieira Moreira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A looping hook to the body misses from Moreira. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet. Gracie takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
It looks like Sailor Gracie has been cut. Gracie takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Moreira! Gracie is out on his feet! Moreira rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Gracie is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Gracie is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barry motions for Bubby to come forward. Barry throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Barry throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Barry throws a head kick that misses. Bubby takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Barry misses with a head kick.
Bubby looks like he wants to counter punch here. Bubby pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Barry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bubby steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Bubby clinches. Barry looks to throw an elbow but misses. Barry lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Barry breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bubby throws a leg kick but Barry sees it coming and checks it nicely. Barry seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Barry thuds his right hand into Bubby's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Barry pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Bubby tries to counter by closing the distance. Barry looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Barry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barry misses with a two punch combination.

Barry loads up on a big right hand but Bubby slips the punch. Barry lands a jab to Bubby's midsection. Bubby throws a low kick but it's checked well by Barry. Bubby throws a leg kick but Barry moved away. Bubby throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Barry on the side of the head. Barry steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bubby. A slapping body kick lands there for Bubby. Bubby thuds a left hand into Barry's body. Bubby catches Barry with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Barry misses with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barry on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Bubby ducks right into an uppercut from Barry. Barry lands with an uppercut that bounces Bubby off the cage and back into range.
Bubby is rocked! Some bone on bone action there as Bubby checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Bubby is still on wobbly legs! Can Barry finish him? Bubby misses with an uppercut. Barry saw that one coming. Barry throws a jab but it's blocked by Bubby. Barry throws a right and a left that Bubby avoids nicely. Bubby's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Barry connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bubby scrambles back to his feet. Bubby tries to get into range but Barry steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Bubby! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Barry scores the big KO victory!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Di Vaio moves in looking to clinch but Aoki pushes him off. Aoki tries to counter by closing the distance. Di Vaio throws a head kick but Aoki moves out of range.
Aoki tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Nice takedown defense from Aoki . No joy for Di Vaio on that attempt. Di Vaio tries for a takedown but Aoki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Aoki appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Aoki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Di Vaio looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Aoki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Di Vaio tries to bench press Aoki off him but Aoki keeps the position. Aoki lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Di Vaio manages to work his way to half guard, despite Aoki 's best efforts. Aoki prevents Di Vaio from standing back up.

Aoki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Oh Di Vaio is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The Chef dives in looking to finish as Kampmann flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block The Chef's strikes! The Chef is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Kampmann's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Kampmann was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
