1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Joshua! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joshua ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Joshua lands a body shot.
Evans tries for a takedown but Joshua circles away easily and Joshua counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Evans dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Joshua scores with a hook to the body. Evans takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Evans tries to clinch but Joshua moves away and Joshua counters with a crisp one two that drops Evans! Joshua thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Evans to his feet! Evans is in big trouble! Joshua lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Evans is looking to close the distance but Joshua sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Evans crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Evans is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin dodges the punch combination from Wulver.

Franklin throws a big counter combination but Wulver scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Wulver works over Franklin's head and body with a nice combination. Wulver has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Franklin is landing a low percentage of strikes. Franklin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Wulver is trying to break free. Franklin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Wulver is trying to break the clinch but Franklin is controlling him. Franklin throws a head punch that misses. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wulver wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Franklin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wulver connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Franklin scrambles back to his feet. Wulver throws a nice looking combination but Franklin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Franklin is looking for a counter combo. Franklin stalks Wulver and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Wulver's face. Wulver staggers backwards, shaken. This has been an exciting period of action! Wulver throws out a powerful jab.
Franklin is rocked! Franklin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Oh Franklin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Franklin throws a shot from downtown. Wulver moves away and avoids it. Franklin seems to have got his legs back now. Franklin is looking to clinch. A shot to the liver by Wulver. Beautiful body shot. Franklin lands a right hook to the body.
Franklin is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Wulver just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Franklin has gone limp and this one is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aki connects with a crisp jab. Aki catches Araujo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Araujo misses with a shot to the body and Aki counters with a lovely straight right hand! Araujo fails in his attempt to clinch. Aki falls off balance throwing a combination
and Araujo counters with a nice uppercut. Aki moves away from the strike by Araujo. Aki swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Araujo throws a hook to the side of Aki's head but Aki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Araujo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Araujo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aki's guard. Araujo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Araujo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Aki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Araujo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Araujo trying to control but Aki is working from the bottom. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Araujo passes easily into side control. Nice work. Aki can't do much from the bottom here. Araujo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The strikes coming from Araujo are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Araujo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Aki struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Araujo throws a strike aimed at the side of Aki's head but Aki avoids it well. Araujo is trying to get an arm triangle but Aki is defending well. Aki wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Araujo has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Aki's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Aki is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Araujo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valens misses with a shot to the body enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab. Johnson goes for a double leg but Valens avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Valens continues to drive forward. Valens looks like he wants to counter punch here. Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Johnson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Valens defends well and Johnson ends up having to push Valens into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnson N Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Valens, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Valens against the cage but Valens circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Valens is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Valens has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Johnson moves away from the strike by Valens. "Ole!" shouts Valens as he jumps to the side. Valens is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Valens sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A punch combination from Valens misses. Johnson is breathing heavily. Valens lands with a straight right. Johnson didn't see that one coming. Jan Paul Valens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Valens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Valens defends it nicely. Valens swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Nice takedown defense from Valens. No joy for Johnson on that attempt. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Valens.

Johnson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Valens sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Valens has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.
Valens lands a shoulder strike. Valens is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Valens down to the mat. Valens avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Some bone on bone action there as Johnson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Johnson lands with an overhand left. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. He's got his arms around Valens's waist but Valens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Valens wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Valens is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Valens is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johnson is aware though and is defending well. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Valens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson won't allow Valens to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Johnson trying to control but Valens is working from the bottom. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Valens holds on and takes a little breather. Johnson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valens swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Nice takedown defense from Valens. No joy for Johnson on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnson N Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valens throws a half hearted mid kick. Valens delivers a nice body kick. Valens fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head. Valens fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage. Johnson managing to block the knees to the body from Valens.

This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnson is working for takedown but Valens is calmly controlling the position for now. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Regal shoots in and bounces Shum off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Regal with a flurry of punches that miss. Regal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Shum avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Regal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shum works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Regal stays in close to Shum's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Regal loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Regal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Regal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
