The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ripper is looking to clinch.
Gari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gari moves into the clinch successfully.
Gari managing to block the knees to the body from Ripper.
Ripper goes for a takedown attempt but Gari pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gari throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gari cracks the inside of Ripper's front leg.
Ripper takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Gari rushes Ripper and presses him up against the ropes.

Gari wants the takedown. Ripper is fighting it off but Gari persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ripper's guard against the ropes.

Ripper is working an open guard so Gari takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Gari has closed the distance and engaged Ripper in a clinch.

Ripper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gari swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gari gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ripper regains guard.
Ripper is looking to stand up but Gari isn't so interested in that idea.
Ripper can't keep his opponent in guard - Gari advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gari is looking to take a break and control but Ripper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gari breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
