These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Baggins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smut looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to The Axe's temple.

The Axe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The Axe is rocked!
Jackson loads up with a big shot that hurts The Axe! He's pulled Jackson in close but Jackson has postured up and lands more strikes. Can The Axe survive? More strikes from Jackson and The Axe is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gary Jackson!
