The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Brooks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paitich sprawls well initially but Brooks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Paitich makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Paitich fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Paitich gets caught napping as Brooks dives in and scores a takedown. Paitich manages to retain guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Paitich changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brooks tries to avoid it but Paitich manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brooks to the ground. Brooks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pendred tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ronld smiles and moves away.
Ronld tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pendred swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pendred dives in and grabs Ronld's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ronld pushes down on Pendred's head and hops out.

Pendred shoots in looking for a takedown but Ronld manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pendred's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryson Ronld will probably get the nod.

Mikael makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
