The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Schwarzwelder. Schwarzwelder obviously looking to wear him down.
Perez looks to land a right hand but Schwarzwelder moved out of range.
Schwarzwelder has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Schwarzwelder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Perez is fending him off so far but Schwarzwelder persists. Nope, Perez circles away and we're back to standing.
As Schwarzwelder backs away, Perez returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Schwarzwelder closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Perez did well to prevent Schwarzwelder getting side control.

Schwarzwelder lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Perez is looking to control Schwarzwelder's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Perez avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mihr looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Pagara cracks a nice hook into Mihr's ribs.
Mihr fails with a takedown attempt.
Pagara's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mihr under the eye.
Pagara scores with a hook to the body. Mihr takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Pagara throws an overhand right that has Mihr reeling! Pagara follows up with more punches and Mihr is out cold! This one is all over!

Biernat tries for a takedown but Duterte circles away easily
and Duterte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Duterte lands a nice knee to the body.

It looks like Mateusz Biernat has been cut.
Biernat is trying to break the clinch but Duterte is controlling him.

Duterte escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Duterte fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rodrigo Duterte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Biernat counters with a one-two to the body.
Duterte stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Biernat.

Biernat closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Duterte's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Biernat won't allow Duterte to get back to his feet.

Biernat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Biernat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Biernat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Biernat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duterte's waist but Duterte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Biernat off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mateusz Biernat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

I was talking to Biernat's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Duterte is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Biernat is defending well for now.

Biernat pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Biernat ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Duterte shoots in but Biernat avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A left and a right from Biernat both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Rodrigo Duterte has been cut.
Biernat pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Duterte back to the cage. Biernat follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Biernat scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Biernat is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Duterte looks calm but he's in trouble here. Biernat gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Duterte is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Biernat lets go of the hold and Duterte can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Smiff changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fernandez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fernandez tries to buck Smiff off but Smiff is having none of it.
Fernandez is trying to control Smiff's posture but Smiff avoids it.
Smiff trying to control the action but Fernandez is working from the bottom.

Smiff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fernandez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fernandez is looking to regain half guard here but Smiff keeps moving and retains side control.

Fernandez wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Smiff has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Fernandez's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Fernandez is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Smiff!

Sriracha Smiff bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
