Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Isaac Bennett had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 147.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Bennett on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Bennett shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Diaz defends it nicely.
Diaz fails to land with a series of punches.
Bennett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Bennett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Diaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Morrison Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lee might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Pretender. Dick Pound told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Pound throws the left hand but Lee avoids the punch easily.
Lee slips under a jab from Pound.
Lee is looking to counter punch.
Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pound now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Lee scores with a jab to the body.
Lee lands with a slapping head kick.
Lee just misses with a punch to the body.
Pound moves out of range as Lee throws a body kick.
Pound has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Pound takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

I was talking to Lee's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Lee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pound throws a low kick, looking for Lee's leg but Lee calmly moves out of range.

Lee bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

and Lee counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pound is still on wobbly legs! Can Lee finish him?
Pound walks straight into a right hand from Lee - that's dropped him! Lee jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Pound from any more punishment! Pound complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Morrison Lee!
