0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronald McDonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Nathan! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.

McDonald takes the fight into the clinch. McDonald is working for takedown but Nathan is calmly controlling the position for now. Nathan blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McDonald pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nathan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Nathan keeps the fight on the outside. McDonald closes the distance and clinches up with Nathan, looking for a takedown. McDonald pushes Nathan against the cage but Nathan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Nathan closes the distance and clinches up with McDonald, looking for a takedown. Nathan pushes McDonald against the cage but McDonald circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McDonald stuffs the takedown attempt from Nathan. Nathan gets slowly back to his feet. McDonald went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Ronald McDonald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Nathan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonald gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McDonald turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! You can see the frustration on Nathan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McDonald wants to control from the top but Nathan keeps moving. McDonald's corner is telling him to maintain position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Nathan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nathan is controlling McDonald's posture.

McDonald is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Nathan has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. McDonald is looking to defend but Nathan has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for McDonald! Nathan pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, McDonald taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ray Nathan! A relieved looking Ray Nathan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Theothrastus Bombastus was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Bombastus makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Skallagrimmson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Bombastus connects with a crisp jab. Skallagrimmson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bombastus. Skallagrimmson attempts a counter takedown but Bombastus avoids it well and moves away.

Skallagrimmson content just to control the position here. Skallagrimmson lands a big shot there that rocks Bombastus but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dotson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. The fight stays on the outside here - Dotson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dog swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Dotson moves out of range as Dog throws a body kick.

Hard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rand blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hard. Hard looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Hard sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rand defending well though. Hard content to control rather than advance. Rand avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hard. Rand keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Hard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rand with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hard throws a strike but Rand avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Hard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hard landing with the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
