The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ilves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ilves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kane feinted with a counter takedown.
Ilves lands a lovely overhand right.
Kane connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kane scores with a hook to the body. Ilves takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Kane darts in and clinches Ilves up against the cage.
Kane is trying to drag Ilves to the mat but Ilves just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've been hearing reports that Kane has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Kane wants a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ilves after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ilves wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kane has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ilves avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kane drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kane gets control of Ilves's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kane will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kane has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ilves should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kane has tightened it up now! Ilves should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Wright getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Wright lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Joy takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A head kick by Wright misses
and Joy counters with a right hand to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Joy. Wright does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wright throws a sloppy head kick and Joy moves out of range easily.
It looked like Joy wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Joy sprawls well. Joy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wright gets slowly back to his feet.
Joy connects with a body shot that sends Wright's belly button to the back.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Joy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wright has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wright and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Joy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Joy wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy.
Wright is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Joy scores with a couple of nice shots.

Joy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wright doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Joy.

Joy decides to stand and escape the position.

Joy misses with a hook. Wright ducked under it nicely.
Wright dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Joy gets control of Wright's arms and successfully pulls guard. Joy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Wright is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Joy has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Wright is looking to defend but Joy has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Wright! Joy pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Wright taps out and this one is all over!
