The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Ua. Malone will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ua staying out of range there. Ua looks to land a left hand but Malone moved out of range nicely. Malone throws a counter combo. Ua scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Malone connects with a nice looking jab.
Ua connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Ua seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Malone throws a shot from downtown. Ua moves away and avoids it. Malone misses with a wild combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ua looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ua tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Malone was well out of range. Poor timing from Ua. Ua misses with a series of wild punches.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Araujo moves in looking to clinch but Brown pushes him off. Araujo tries to clinch but Brown moves out of range. Brown scores with a kick to the body.
Brown fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Araujo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Brown's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Araujo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brown.
Brown sets himself, and Araujo steps forward looking for the clinch! Brown avoids it this time. Brown keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Brown takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Brown closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Brown has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brown stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Araujo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Dave Brown has been cut. Araujo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Brown closes the distance and clinches. Araujo tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Brown lands with a light punch inside. A quick uppercut on the inside from Brown. Araujo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Araujo goes for a double leg but Brown avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brown continues to drive forward. Brown wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Brown throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Araujo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Araujo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brown pinned against the cage. Brown gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Araujo has a takedown stuffed. Dave Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luiz Araujo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Brown wants to stand but Araujo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Brown trying to control but Araujo is working from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Brown's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Brown knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Araujo on the ground. Araujo is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Araujo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Brown throws a big right hand that misses. Araujo controlling the position. Brown loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Brown has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Araujo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Brown in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brown missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Araujo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

A little nod from Penzer there as he acknowledges the shot. Staunton lands with a nice body kick. Penzer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Staunton is able to avoid easily.
