2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jin Markham! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Bruno Hogan and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Markham moves into the clinch. Markham lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Markham lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Hontedai. Markham lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hontedai tightens his grip and picks Markham up, before dumping him to the ground. Markham manages to land in guard. Hontedai sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Markham's guard. Markham wants to improve his position but Hontedai is controlling well.
Markham won't allow Hontedai to pass to mount. Hontedai missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hontedai controlling the action here. Hontedai thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Markham's head.

Hontedai working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Markham looks winded! Hontedai connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hontedai cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Markham is rocked! Hontedai lands a couple of good shots and Markham has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Markham is still in real trouble! Can Hontedai finish him? Hontedai lands with a hammerfist to the side of Markham's head. Hontedai connects with a couple of big shots that have Markham covering up! Oh, this looks bad for Markham! Hontedai fires away with several more unanswered shots and the referee has no choice but to step in! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grant ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Grant jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Neer stuns Grant with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Neer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Neer thuds a left hand into Grant's body. Neer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Grant lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Neer misses with an uppercut. Grant saw that one coming. Grant takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Neer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Grant takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Neer feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Grants jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Grant uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Neer.
Grant throws a counter high kick but Neer was just alert enough to avoid it. Grant moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Neer looks to land a right hand but Grant moved out of range. Grant takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Grant walks into a jab. Grant slips a jab and a cross from Neer.

Grant changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Grant ducks right into an uppercut from Neer. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Neer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grant.
Grant appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Neer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Grant eats them both and turns towards Neer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Josh Neer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Neer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Neer looks like he wants to counter punch here. Josh Neer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Neer scores with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Neer wants it to stay on the feet. Grant keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Grant counters with a shoot takedown. Neer fights it but they end up in guard. Neer pushes Grant off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Neer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Grant. Neer lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Grant walks into a stiff left hand from Neer.

and Grant counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Nice body punch from Neer - that landed with a thud.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Grant. Neer prevents a body shot from Grant. The referee is keeping an eye on Grant - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Neer misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Grant gets a trip takedown into half guard. Neer kicks Grant off and gets back to his feet. A bone on bone clash there as Neer blocks the leg kick.
Neer is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Neer throws a right and a left that Grant avoids nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
