and Gowing counters with a three punch combo that has Solomina backing up. Solomina nods at Gowing to acknowledge the strikes.
Gowing and Solomina are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Gowing throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Solomina into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Gowing knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Paltonen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mitchell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Paltonen is in Mitchell's guard.
Paltonen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mitchell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mitchell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mitchell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Paltonen looking to improve position, pressing down on Mitchell's thigh with his hand. Mitchell seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Paltonen paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Paltonen's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Mitchell picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

That was a close second round but I would say that Buddy Guy will probably get the nod.

Blazing has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Blazing takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Blazing lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogg shoots in looking for a takedown. Gutz tries to sprawl out of it but Hogg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gutz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hogg slips a straight right by Gutz.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hogg.
Gutz lands a jab.
Hogg fails with a takedown attempt.
Apollo Gutz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JD Hogg.
Hogg changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gutz tries to avoid it but Hogg manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gutz to the ground. Gutz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Gutz. No joy for Hogg on that attempt.
Hogg takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Gutz drops Hogg with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Hogg! Gutz dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
