The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena with a poor takedown
letting Boom counter with a right hand.
Boom connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Boom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pena paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pena is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Boom's half guard.
Pena takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boom trying to get back to full guard but Pena takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pena seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boom for as long as he can get away with.
Pena lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Boom reaches up to try and control the position but Pena seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Boom rolls and tries to escape and now Pena has his back!
Pena has good solid back control here.
Boom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pena. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Boom won't enjoy being in this position. Pena looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Boom is tapping - it's over boys! Pena picks up the submission victory!

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Miguel Machin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Blaze wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Blaze connects with a leg kick. Machin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Machin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Machin there as he acknowledges the shot.
Blaze lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Machin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Blaze counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Machin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blaze circles away.
Santana Blaze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Machin.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vinicius Costa.
