23 - 26 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcel Clasie! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clasie throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Orkidea to counter with a crisp jab. Clasie looks to land a combination but Orkidea avoids it well. Clasie throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
It looks like Olof Orkidea has been cut. Orkidea throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Orkidea avoids the head kick by Clasie.
Orkidea tries to clinch there but Clasie circles away.
Clasie throws a leg kick but Orkidea sees it coming and checks it nicely. Orkidea tries to clinch up but Clasie circles away and keeps his distance. Clasie throws a right and a left that Orkidea avoids nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Clasie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Orkidea circles away quickly and effectively. An attempted straight right counter from Orkidea misses the target. Clasie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Orkidea has closed the distance and engaged Clasie in a clinch.

Clasie's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Clasie duly obliges. Clasie jabbing away but nothing is landing. A quick step to the side and Orkidea tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Orkidea avoids the body shot from Clasie.
Orkidea is looking to counter punch. Orkidea throws a leg kick but Clasie checks it. Clasie throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Orkidea counters with a slapping leg kick. Clasie misses with a head kick.
Orkidea looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Orkidea takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Clasie keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Orkidea. Clasie flicks out a counter leg kick but Orkidea steps away. Clasie fails to land with a series of punches.

Orkidea sets himself, and Clasie steps forward looking for the clinch! Orkidea avoids it this time. No joy there for Clasie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Orkidea wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Clasie throws a head kick that misses and Clasie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Orkidea lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Clasie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Clasie looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Orkidea moves in looking to clinch but Clasie pushes him off. Clasie misses with a left hand and Orkidea connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. An inside leg kick lands from Orkidea. Clasie throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Clasie throws a right and a left that both miss. A nice combination there by Clasie.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Clasie checks a low kick from Orkidea. Clasie throws a counter combo. A lazy body kick from Clasie and Orkidea finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Orkidea fails in his attempt to clinch. Orkidea doesn't manage to clinch there - Clasie circles away.
Orkidea has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Orkidea there as he acknowledges the shot. Marcel Clasie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A shot to the liver by Clasie. Beautiful body shot. Clasie misses with a double jab
and Orkidea counters with a straight right hand. Orkidea misses the jab. Clasie throws a series of punches but Orkidea avoids them all with ease. Clasie lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Orkidea goes down and covers up as Clasie starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

A very excited looking Marcel Clasie made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.

Still in the clinch, Karkmananis scores with a nice short uppercut. Karkmananis softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Karkmananis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Karkmananis blocks a body shot from Barksdale. A head punch on the inside from Karkmananis fails to land. Karkmananis misses with a punch to the body.
Barksdale misses with a hook from the clinch. Barksdale gets through Karkmananis's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Barksdale throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Barksdale fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Karkmananis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Barksdale throws out the jab. Barksdale jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Barksdale scores with a punch to the head. Barksdale scores with a jab. Karkmananis acknowledges it with a nod of the head. A looping hook to the body misses from Barksdale. Karkmananis does a little dance to reset his feet. Barksdale is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Karkmananis. Barksdale misses with a body shot.

Karkmananis has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barksdale lands an elbow inside that Karkmananis shrugs off.
It looks like Nicolas Karkmananis has been cut. A frustrated look appears on Karkmananis's face as he tries to break the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Barksdale. Karkmananis lands a right hand that snaps the head of Barksdale backwards. A short right hand to the side of the head by Barksdale.

Karkmananis closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Karkmananis takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Karkmananis moves to clinch but Barksdale breaks away and Barksdale counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Barksdale throws a leg kick which misses Karkmananis's front leg but catches the back leg as Karkmananis tries to avoid it. Barksdale walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Karkmananis checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Karkmananis moves to clinch but Barksdale breaks away and Barksdale counters with a crisp right hand that drops Karkmananis! Barksdale lets Karkmananis back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Karkmananis is rocked! Barksdale connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Karkmananis covering up! Barksdale comes in with a big uppercut and Karkmananis goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Avon Barksdale! A determined Avon Barksdale didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Vega looks to land a combination but Riseman avoids it well. De Vega ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Riseman misses with a series of wild punches.
De Vega lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. De Vega connects with a leg kick. Riseman looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. De Vega throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
De Vega connects with a body shot. Some wild striking there from Riseman.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Riseman throws a combination. De Vega tries to block but a couple of punches get through. De Vega on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Nice uppercut there from De Vega.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riseman throws a body kick that misses and De Vega counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. De Vega working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Riseman's head. De Vega scores with a decent looking elbow strike. De Vega throws a big elbow that misses. De Vega forces his way into half guard. De Vega throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Riseman to regain full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riseman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. De Vega prevents Riseman from getting back to his feet. De Vega content to stall in guard here. De Vega keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Riseman's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Vega missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Riseman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. De Vega postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. De Vega trying to control but Riseman is working from the bottom. De Vega not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Riseman keeping moving, preventing De Vega from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. That kick from Riseman tenderised De Vega's leg. De Vega is trying to keep his angry face on. Riseman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
De Vega is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. De Vega bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Riseman's head backwards. Riseman throws a low kick but De Vega avoids it. De Vega connects with a body shot. Riseman misses the jab. Riseman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and De Vega counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Arne Riseman has been cut. Riseman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces De Vega back to the cage. Riseman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. De Vega swings for the body but Riseman moves out of range.
Riseman on the wrong end of a nice hook. Riseman swings away with a leg kick that misses. De Vega lands with a hook. Riseman tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Riseman moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Vega lands a nice looking body shot.

and De Vega counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A left lands for Riseman. Riseman takes a swing at De Vega's ribcage but misses. De Vega pushes Riseman away with a front kick. Riseman is breathing heavily. De Vega catches Riseman with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! De Vega scores with a crisp jab that stopped Riseman in his tracks.
Riseman is rocked! De Vega moves in close and cracks Riseman with a massive right hand! Riseman, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by De Vega!
