Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Wallace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malvin Mandi! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mandi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Mandi dives in and scores a takedown into Wallace's guard. Mandi looking to sit in guard and control but Wallace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mandi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wallace manages to get himself to full guard.
Mandi trying to control the position from guard on top but Wallace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wallace is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Mandi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace is looking to sweep but instead, Mandi has passed into half guard.
Mandi prevents Wallace from improving his position. Mandi controlling the action here. Wallace has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mandi is working away from the top position though. Mandi content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wallace desperately trying to maintain half guard. Mandi is thwarting Wallace's attempts to control the position. Mandi missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mandi tries to stand and escape but Wallace actually recovers to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mandi won't allow Wallace to get back to his feet. Mandi throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Wallace lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mandi circles away quickly and effectively. Mandi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wallace defends well and Mandi ends up having to push Wallace into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Wallace is looking to land body kicks. Mandi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. An inside leg kick from Wallace misses. Mandi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Mandi fails to land with a series of punches.
Wallace stuffs the takedown attempt from Mandi. Mandi gets slowly back to his feet. Mandi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mandi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Nathan Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malvin Mandi. Wallace fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mandi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Wallace seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. A good leg kick by Wallace. Mandi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Wallace pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mandi thinks about the counter body kick. Mandi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wallace as he avoids it easily. Mandi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wallace blocks a head kick by Mandi.
A little feinted left hand from Wallace on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Mandi has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wallace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wallace throws a low kick but it's checked well by Mandi. Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mandi paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wallace stuffs the takedown attempt from Mandi. Mandi gets slowly back to his feet. Wallace throwing a counter right hand but Mandi manages to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathan Wallace dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Wallace lands a leg kick that knocks Mandi off balance momentarily. Wallace looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Mandi wants to counter the offense by Wallace and move into the clinch position. Wallace misses with a low kick.
Mandi shoots in looking for a takedown but Wallace manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mandi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Wallace wants to slow Mandi down by chopping away at his legs. Wallace throws a jab when Mandi was well out of range. Wallace will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Mandi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Wallace counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wallace with a body punch. A glancing blow. Malvin Mandi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mandi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nathan Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malvin Mandi.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace moves into the clinch. Nice body punch from Wallace - that landed with a thud.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wallace scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mandi blocks a body shot from Wallace. Wallace working aggressively here.
Wallace misses with a hook from the clinch. Wallace tries to work over Mandi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Mandi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mandi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Wallace sitting in guard here, content to control. Mandi working a defensive guard here.

Wallace tries to free his leg and advance position but Mandi is retaining full guard. Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Mandi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wallace lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Mandi is rocked! Mandi takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mandi is still on wobbly legs! Can Wallace finish him? Mandi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mandi is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Wallace just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Mandi has gone limp and this one is over!

12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Silva! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanes lands a slapping body shot.
Hanes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hanes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Silva on his heels. He'll look to pass Silva's guard now, I'm sure. Hanes lands a couple of elbows. Hanes slips nicely into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth. Hanes missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Silva is looking to escape. Hanes throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva has hold of Hanes's hands but Hanes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Silva looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hanes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva is trying to get back to full guard. Hanes drops an elbow to the side of Silva's head. Silva is positioning himself well to prevent Hanes advancing to mount. Silva is looking to control Hanes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted? Hanes missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hanes wants to pass to mount but Silva is defending the position. Hanes has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Silva defend it? Hanes steps over the head and cranks it - Silva is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hanes!

7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Griffin! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blood is defended easily by Griffin. Griffin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Blood looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Griffin works over Blood's head and body with a nice combination. Griffin misses with the combination.
Griffin looks to land a left hand but Blood moved out of range nicely. Blood fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Blood pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Griffin connects with a right hand. Blood shakes it off. Griffin throws a push kick but Blood slaps the foot to one side. A little feinted left hand from Blood on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Griffin moves out of range as Blood strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Griffin misses with the combination.
Griffin tries to bum rush Blood with a series of wild strikes but Blood uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blood bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Griffin tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Even with his hooks in, Blood manages to miss with strikes from the back. Griffin defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Blood's arms. I really don't envy Griffin right now.
Blood looking to break Griffin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Griffin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Blood will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin rolls, trying to escape but Blood keeps control of the position.

Griffin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Blood trying to control but Griffin is working from the bottom. Griffin trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Blood content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Blood preventing the sweep. Griffin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blood is aware though and is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Griffin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Blood postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Blood working some strikes from top position. Blood wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving. Griffin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Blood slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Blood wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving. Griffin is looking for a triangle but Blood pushes his legs off easily.

Griffin trying to control the position but Blood is working away. Blood is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee asks Griffin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Griffin prefers to stall for the moment though. Blood struggling a bit here. Griffin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Griffin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blood is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blood tries to bench press Griffin off him but Griffin keeps the position. Griffin wants to control but Blood is keeping him busy. Blood can't do much from the bottom here. Griffin working the ground and pound.
Blood is rocked! Griffin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Blood is trying to escape and Griffin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Blood is forced to tap! Nice work there by Griffin! Very nice indeed!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strunz missing with a left hand there. Marquet was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Strunz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Marquet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Marquet keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Strunz. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marquet. Marquet is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Strunz cracks Marquet with a good jab. Marquet misses with a looping right. Marquet takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. We've been told by Marquet's head coaches at LOD: Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Strunz misses with a looping right. Marquet scores with a jab to the body. Strunz throws a quick inside leg kick. Strunz misses with a hook. Marquet displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice cross by Strunz. Marquet feints a jab promting Strunz to slip. Marquet then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Strunz slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Marquet throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Strunz only half commits to the counter leg kick. Marquet misses with a two punch combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Strunz scores with a kick to the midsection. Nice cross by Strunz. Marquet takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Marquet connects with a good right hand that stumbles Strunz. Strunz circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Strunz throws a big shot that misses. Marquet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Strunz circles away quickly and effectively. Marquet takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Marquet throws a lazy uppercut
letting Strunz counter with a right hand. Marquet takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Donk. Strunz catches Marquet right on the button with a cross. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marquet dives in and grabs Strunz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strunz pushes down on Marquet's head and hops out. It seemed like Strunz was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Marquet pushes Strunz up against the cage in a clinch. Strunz scores with a hook to the body. Strunz lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Strunz lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Strunz breaks from the clinch.
Nice shot lands for Strunz. Marquet cracks Strunz with a good jab. Strunz catches Marquet with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Strunz is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Marquet had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strunz checks a leg kick. Marquet throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Strunz uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marquet has time to react. Strunz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Marquet swinging wildly here.
Marquet throws a combination that misses and Strunz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Marquet staying out of range there. Marquet throws a big counter combination but Strunz scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Some wild striking there from Marquet.
Bronko Strunz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Marquet takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Strunz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Strunz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Strunz lands with a cross. Strunz connects with a good right hand that stumbles Marquet. Marquet circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Marquet tries to clinch there but Strunz circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquet stalks Strunz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Strunz's face. Strunz staggers backwards, shaken. Marquet takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Strunz scores with a punch to the head. Strunz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Strunz lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Marquet avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Marquet swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

A swing and a miss from Marquet. Marquet takes a body punch but keeps moving. Strunz connects with a body shot that sends Marquet's belly button to the back. Marquet has a takedown stuffed. Strunz throws out a counter right but Marquet avoids it with no problem. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Marquet. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fight stays on the outside here - Marquet looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Strunz keeps the fight on the outside. Marquet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

It connects and Marquet has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Strunz misses with an uppercut. Marquet saw that one coming. An attempted straight right counter from Marquet misses the target. Marquet tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Strunz misses the jab. An attempted straight right counter from Marquet misses the target. Strunz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Marquet slips under a jab. Marquet swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A looping hook to the body misses from Marquet. Strunz does a little dance to reset his feet. Strunz gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Marquet walks straight into an uppercut. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Vance finds it's way through Castle's defenses. Vance uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Castle. A big right from Castle misses. Castle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vance. Slade Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vance cracks Castle with an open hand slap. Vance looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Vance misses with a few strikes there.

14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bubba Gumption! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gumption throws a body punch but Mencken moves out of range. Gumption throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Gumption defending well as Mencken loads up on a big left hand. HL Mencken seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gumption wants to slow Mencken down by chopping away at his legs. Mencken lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gumption circles away quickly and effectively. Mencken has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mencken there as he acknowledges the shot. Gumption sizes up Mencken with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Gumption tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mencken was well out of range. Mencken throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. A jab from Gumption finds it's way through Mencken's defenses. Mencken checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Mencken thuds a left hand into Gumption's body. Gumption scores with a nice head shot. A solid body kick from Gumption. Gumption throws a body kick that misses. Gumption keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nice body punch from Gumption. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice straight punches there by Gumption. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gumption. Bubba Gumption is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mencken manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Gumption fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Gumption changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Gumption on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gumption walks into a jab. Gumption uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mencken. Mencken tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Gumption counters with a lovely straight right hand! HL Mencken has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gumption lands with a thumping leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight! Bubba Gumption comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gumption has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
