The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Awadh tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.

Silva closes the distance and clinches.

Silva creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Awadh tries for a takedown. No joy.
Silva digs a right hand underneath Awadh's ribcage. Awadh let out a lung full of air as it connected.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from JR.
De Silva thuds his shin into the meat of JR's side.
De Silva showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from JR.
De Silva throws a big counter head kick but JR avoids it with no problem.

De Silva darts in looking for a takedown but JR gets double underhooks and turns De Silva into the cage.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
De Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but JR keeps working.

De Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.

De Silva rushes JR and presses him up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

De Silva has clasped his hands together around JR's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
JR is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but De Silva has just dragged him back down to the mat.
JR knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Silva on the ground.
JR's coaches at Cozad MMA Rio have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

De Silva decides to stand up, so the ref orders JR to his feet.
JR slips under a jab.
De Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but JR circles away.
Vlad JR seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Vlad JR has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim De Silva.
De Silva dives in for a single leg takedown but JR sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
De Silva looks winded!

De Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. JR was covering up waiting for the punch and De Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

De Silva stands and steps away. JR gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

JR just misses with a punch to the body.
De Silva on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
JR throws a nice looking combination but De Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

JR moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

JR throws a one two combo.
De Silva dives in and grabs JR's left leg, looking for a takedown. JR pushes down on De Silva's head and hops out.
JR throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
De Silva drops down looking to force a counter takedown but JR defends it well.
Sloppy strikes from JR. Those never looked like landing.

and De Silva counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for JR!
JR bucks up and tries to throw De Silva off but instead De Silva has got his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Silva punches JR on the ear.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - De Silva's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

It looks like John John has been cut.
A head kick by Baker - that's a beauty! John is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Baker can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Humphrey Baker!
